I've always taken Goop as more a joke on society by Gwyneth....not a serious thing.
I know Chris, NASA called her out or the Umm, well quote from the article of one of NASA's guys: BS!

I mean she does it deliberately....no one needs to call her out, and among those the more amusing ones are Steven Colbert's Summit-on House brand. At least that's the way I take it. The real Goop was the workshop stuff to help degrease your ungloved hands....

I've never heard of Goop until this day, was browsing articles from NASA and actually ran across it by accident.

Revenues are probably embarassingly high but seems from interviews with her I've seen it's not particularly serious except if you "believe"....maybe I misinterpreted her but she sure didn't seem all that serious about it.

Interesting, I'm gonna take a look see of her and actually watch the video. Edited: you know come to think of it, I vaguely remember something of her a video or something about it. All I did was briefly read the article. Just thought the article kind of coincided with power plant of mixed waves of electricity that those two where sells. I'd send the link to PS, just of sh$ts and giggles, with a side note of NASA's watching you guy's.

Then again audio bullshit hasn't been prosecuted for fraud either.
It never will be prosecuted. Not just audio, most if not all consumer electronics never see a court of law. Those lil implied warranties one gets when they open up the box of a new amp, AVR, blu-ray player and so on. Devil is in the details. (bullshit) interesting analogy. If it smells like it probably is. She got paid well I'm sure of it. After all, all they want is your money. Isn't that the end game after all.

To nobody's surprise :) (including those who are shilling these products)

You can lead a horse to water, but whether it drinks or not, it will still be a horse. see The challenge is if you can persuade it to believe in water and charge for it.

I'm underwhelmed. There goes Amir again, using over-kill methods just to demonstrate the obvious.

Do we really need to see to 227 responses over 12 pages from ASR forum members of a review of $99 AC power cords? That other review had 535 responses over 27 pages for a review of a $5500 Power Plant AC regenerator. (WTF is a Power Plant AC regenerator?) I thought the ASR forum's claim to fame is all those industry professionals who contribute. They seem to have a lot of time on their hands. I'm not an industry pro, and I certainly don't have the time to wade through all that. And I'm retired.

What's next? Showing that speaker cables transmit the same signal no matter if they're made with pure copper, copper clad aluminum, or silver? How much do floor elevators for speaker cables matter? Or what effect over speaker level signals do synthetic fiber carpets have vs. natural fiber carpets?
A forum member on ASR asked "why test this when we already know the answers?" and Amir responded "because some people don't". Good enough for me. We all knew the results, but it's nice to see it represented this way. Now all the folks that believe this stuff can say "it isn't all about measurements, it's about how it sounds" which would be exactly the same as before you put in your waste of money power cable.

But only if those folks who make such earnest but nebulous claims actually read and believe Amir's reviews. I'm not going to make a bet about how many that is. ;)
I agree with you on the point about "using over-kill methods just to demonstrate the obvious " but that's on the subjective side only (so called sound quality..). We can't say for sure if, for example, their claims on lowering distortions and noise are true, but such claims are verifiable by measurements. So imo, such tests are probably meaningful to some extent.

I also agree with you that not too many of those folks who actually heard the better sound quality after paying for such products would read Amir's reviews. Even those who read them, would question his methodology, accuracy of the instruments etc etc..

Seriously, I have no life.
I can't help but jump with joy a little, here, as Amir has put up some tests of an Audioquest Power Cord and a PS Audio PowerPlant P12.

The results are...

Busted!

Let's not forget @gene's testing of the AQ battery pack cable, either.

I wonder what's next on the chopping block of audioPhoolery?

Anybody? :D
That AQ power cord is $99 for 16ga wire? How the eff would that be better than the 14ga (or 12ga) that it connects to? Maybe that accounts for its magic.

The PS Audio power POS has 20A outlets and a 15A breaker. Huh?

From the article- "The P12 was driven using Pangea power cord."- well, THERE'S the problem!
