I can't help but jump with joy a little, here, as Amir has put up some tests of an Audioquest Power Cord and a PS Audio PowerPlant P12.

The results are...

Busted!

Let's not forget @gene's testing of the AQ battery pack cable, either.

I wonder what's next on the chopping block of audioPhoolery?

Anybody? :D

Oh he stirred up a bee's nest with the BS Audio forums. Has Paul making video responses and everything, lol.

Video responses that don't address the issues, but responses nontheless.

I'm underwhelmed. There goes Amir again, using over-kill methods just to demonstrate the obvious.

Do we really need to see to 227 responses over 12 pages from ASR forum members of a review of $99 AC power cords? That other review had 535 responses over 27 pages for a review of a $5500 Power Plant AC regenerator. (WTF is a Power Plant AC regenerator?) I thought the ASR forum's claim to fame is all those industry professionals who contribute. They seem to have a lot of time on their hands. I'm not an industry pro, and I certainly don't have the time to wade through all that. And I'm retired.

What's next? Showing that speaker cables transmit the same signal no matter if they're made with pure copper, copper clad aluminum, or silver? How much do floor elevators for speaker cables matter? Or what effect over speaker level signals do synthetic fiber carpets have vs. natural fiber carpets?

While I agree, friend Swerd, It is mostly just the review that is worth the perusal. (I can't read the threads too deep.)
Yes, we should already know and get that these things are pointless.
Should.
Yet folk still post earnest questions about needing these things.
*shrugs

Now about testing Synthetic vs Natural carpet fibers and their effect of room acoustics!
:p

Indeed, and those anal nitpicky overkill reviews make for some handy links when debating someone making nebulous, yet falsifiable claims.
But only if those folks who make such earnest but nebulous claims actually read and believe Amir's reviews. I'm not going to make a bet about how many that is. ;)

Too true...

You can lead a horse to water, but it will still be a horse whether it drinks or not. The question is, can you make it believe in the water and charge for it?

I love threads here that are ultimately about snake oil. On other forums, such as The Absolute Sound, the folks on AH are simply unwashed heathens that only believe in "science stuff" and can't hear the beauty of devices they don't understand. On the AH, the folks who worship and purchase devices that make no sense, they get flogged.
There doesn't appear to be much common ground and it doesn't even sound like we are interested in the same hobby.

We may be interested in different hobbies after all. I like to listen to my music. The folks who really get in to snake oil products seem to like to talk about their mysterious and expensive stuff instead.

It's just another tool so to speak to counter the idiocy those people originally read about from Fremer/Denney/McGowan etc

,
Maybe one of you guys could send this link and article to PS. I'm sure NASA would love to use that awesome power plant on some of their systems. Would have never thought Gwyneth Paltrow, snake oil sales lady? who would've thought! She's definitely still easy on the eyes though.

I've always taken Goop as more a joke on society by Gwyneth....not a serious thing.
