Ticket prices were bananas. I would love to see them, but not for those prices.
Prices for big acts are high everywhere. Bands used to make good money from record and CD sales, but with the pennies that streaming pays their income comes from live shows and the music is the promotion. Used to be the other way around but I won't bore you with stories of how little I paid for big acts in the 80's. :D

I'm planning to see Band-Maid in DC this October at the Fillmore. Tickets were only $30 ($25 + fees etc) for general admission, although they had VIP tickets for $100 that give early access and a meet and greet (get a signed post card). Funny how they push for the extras now in some clubs. You could add early access to your ticket to avoid the line and pay for the coat check to "guarantee a spot". You have a better chance of seeing the band up close in a club any way as opposed to a huge arena so I enjoy the setting, even if it means standing for a few hours. Gas prices are going to make the trip an expensive drive but I don't go to that many shows in a year.

it is ticketmaster and the other ticket outlets. They have too much control and can just set them wherever they like. They got busted for charging too many fees, so after that they instead just decided to charge a LOT more for tickets. Porcupine Tree tickets today on the presale were $300-400/ea. The presale price is something they came up with to jack the prices up. By Fri when the general tix go up for sale, only the top price VIP ones or the terrible ones will be left. Those tix are normally around $60-70.

Wow, that is bananas! o_O Part of the blame lies with the public. If people are willing to pay $300-$400 for a ticket then they will simply continue to charge that much. Same with sporting venues. As much as I like professional hockey, I have no interest in paying Toronto NHL prices, especially when I can watch our local OHL team for $20 and they put on a good show.

I will try on Fri. I have not missed them when they came to SF since around 2010. It has been quite a while since they toured.

Have to admit that's one band I would really like to see live. The audio quality on there live discs is amazing not to mention how great the music is. I really like the new music they have been putting out in the last year.
