Agreed, that's only 2.5X higher than the A6A's center channel, that's unacceptable, I won't order one like that even if you offer my a 50% discount.:D:D
Isn't he referring to the Center Channel?

So umm what if you got 5 year's warranty? Plus 50% off? Plus you won't have to add a fan on top, extra savings right there also. ;) @PENG, Doc done said All AVR's are junkie, so no matter what the specs are no point in buying a AVR. One day maybe this year I'll move up the chain get me a high-end Pre-Pro and one of them ATi 7 channel amps. Then I'll have 5% better sound quality. For only 12k more.

Man, I just read Denon went way up in prices! They already cost more before the price increase, than Yamaha, Onkyo, less warranty than Yamaha, Onkyo's. Just buy Yamaha.:D

I am so happy not to have based my purchase based on ASR review (I use to spend hours reading everything when looking for something, and ASR or AH reviews are awesome compared to subjective reviews). I based my purchase upon features, reliability and price. And what a surprise when I finally got my Yamaha to replace my Denon old very high end AVC-A1D : my speakers finally sound amazing! Maybe it’s a matter of sound taste, speaker pairing I don’t know, but it’s not a 0.1% that defines the sound quality when I am listening music, my ears aren’t good enough. I wonder if instead of distortion, it’s not something related to fast changes in volume that should be tested, what we call detailed and dynamic sound. Measuring the ability to reproduce a sound without distortion in a sweep test is something, being able to being nimble is something else. It’s like looking is a car is able to maintain the perfect speed in a linear relationship between throttle and real speed while the real use case and performance is how a car accelerate and brake.
Hey I believe I understand what you where saying, about when you had that ugly Denon unit how it didn't come close in sound quality over your new Yamaha RX-A8A when you compared the two. My Son and I compared a Denon 4700 to a Yamaha RX-A4A last week over at BestBuy. Gotta say it didn't sound bad, but something was missing, like it umm sounded like a Onkyo, thin sounding, think umm like less authoritative with a tinge of less chocolate mids. Even as my Son and I where walking out BestBuys Magnolia room, the BestBuy associate said which surprise me said, Just Buy Yamaha.:D;)

The Doc is the doc and is a doc... ;)

Seriously, ADTG may not like me saying this, that if you have something to use right now but is having the itch, then just grab some magic ointment while waiting for the supply chain issues to get sorted, and then see what happens.. That's just my 0.0000002 cent. Something like the A4A could be a good such ointment.:)

I get it now...he is talking about the Denon's center channel. It's still early....sorry
On a more serious note, the Yamaha did better in the other 4 channels as far as the pre outs are concerned, its power amps did not do as good but again we are just comparing numbers.:)

So? He has been overly defensive in this thread instead of simply acknowledging that there are issues. It is nothing unique for Yamaha to have issues as this is common for all manufacturers. If you don’t use the pre-outs you might not care about the performance but if you do use it why should you not care about performance?
Why can’t some people just treat me like I am just another guy on the forum, like before I was a dealer? :D

Before I was a dealer, I could speak my mind freely. But now I can’t? Now I am defensive?

Let’s get back to the QUESTION in hand. This is why we are on the forum. Share thoughts and debate. Friendly debate.

1. What PERFORMANCE are you talking about in regards to using pre-outs?
2. Do you use external amps? Which amps do you use?
3. Do these THD+N numbers improve sound quality?

Please just answer the questions and not post any links as your answer.

I’ve said this a few things before.

But I‘ve had clients who switched from Yamaha to Denon and Marantz because it seems some of my clients care very much about those THD+N numbers! :D

Some changed their minds from Yamaha CX-A5200 and A8A to Denon X8500HA, some actually changed from AV8805A to X8500HA just because of the 0.0007% THD+N of the 8500.

Personally, maybe I care a lot more about these measurements when I was much younger. But these days I care more about the WiFi remote and music streamer app and home audio integration of MusicCast than any numbers. :D

And maybe it’s because I am a hospital pharmacist of 26 Years, not an engineer (although I started out in college as an engineer major for 2 years). :D

Yeah!! Don't be ganging up on Andrew! Or else! @AcuDefTechGuy is a equal opportunity dealer! All are Welcome! So what! he a drug dealer to! He a professional drug dealer! Plus! plus, did I mention he use to work on a chicken farm his family use to own? So he paid his dues man! :D

Absolutely no different than a drug dealer is it... ;)
You guys seen that mini-series called “Dopesick”? It’s an awesome TV series. It basically crucified Oxycontin.

It kind of pissed me off a little because I‘ve been doing pain management at my hospital for 26 years now. And I’ve been writing orders for Oxycontin + Oxy-IR for the last 26 years.

And here is this show that basically said I’ve been giving people Oxycontin poison that will ruin their lives or maybe has ruined their lives. I was like, jeez damnnnnnnnnnnn, thanks a lot.

I can tell you one thing, that you are the only dealer I know who actually do believe in specs and measurements can tell if one device would sound different than another, let alone different means "better" or not. That is, you are the "objective" type, in the sense that you don't just go by your ears/brains, knowing that they can be fooled. That's yourself, but if your potential customers ask (I suppose you might have actually been asked such kind of questions before..) whether the A6A will sound better than the X4700H if REQ is not used, what would be your response?
