Results of some minor sub tweaks

I recently altered my room a bit so I could make my 4 subs as symmetrical as possible and have my LRC all at ear level in regards to the tweeters. Speaker wise I was very pleased but as you can see from my first 3 point REW sub measurement performance left much to be desired. This morning I used super position and ensured all 4 subs are outputting around 72-73dB for a sum of 80dB total output and with some minor placement tweaks made significant improvements both in terms of measurements and audible performance The 4 subs are

1) Mirage BPS-400 dual 12” sealed
2) Atlantic Technology 372 THX 15” sealed
3) Atlantic Technology 272 THX 12” sealed X 2

controlled by a MiniDSP 2x4HD and measured with a UMIK-2 via a 2021 MacBook Pro and REW.

My second series of measurements after placement tweaks

Average of all 6 points with no PEQ applied yet.

My room is lightly treated with a series of Auralex T-fussors on the ceiling, 2D diffusors on the side walls and a pair of 2’x2’x2’ bass traps in each front corner.

Try reducing the scale...the "average" plot goes from -30db to over 90 db...try 100 to 40...it would apply less "smoothing" and show the true colors of what is going on.

That’s what I was gonna say!

Usually the vertical window limits we use are 45-105 with no smoothing.
It’s more painful to look at, but is more representative of what’s happening.

It really does look pretty good, especially with no EQ in the mix. But yeah, like the guys said a smaller window will show potential issues in better resolution, if there are any.

New scale with PEQ applied but no Audyssey XT32, just REW filters.

Thank you guys so much for the info about the scale! I’ve been using REW for about a year now and had NO IDEA about that feature!

Still looks really good! Not surprised, but now it’s easy to compare notes with others.
Well done.

That does look very good! I felt like I got another sub upgrade when I got mine dialed in. It makes an audible difference, huh?

Oh absolutely! I had 6 subs at one point and I’ve learned that in my relatively small section of an L shaped room it didn’t do much to have 2 more. Having 4 that are dialed in really adds that impactful but clean bass. Before I did this I thought my low end response was good but felt like it was boomy and watching Rogue One tonight on UHD Blu-Ray it’s so much tighter and audibly more enjoyable.
