Well the integrated amp and speakers retailed for somewhere around $1100 without discount. The google chromecast audios are still going for $50 or so on fleabay even tho discontinued when they cost about $15 ea. I wouldn't pay anything extra for BS Audio or Fraudioquest products, tho.

Might ask in this thread https://forums.audioholics.com/forums/threads/are-these-finds-good-deals.115715/page-105

PS Most of the audio quality is in the speakers....do you want these particular speakers for a reason? What sort of room details and listening preferences?

Thanks for input. This is for my home office which is about 340 sqft (17x20). Mostly jazz and blues. My hard rock is not “loved by my wife”

You like to listen loud? Primarily nearfield listening at the desk?

Not loud. Goal is crisp background music while working in office at desk (and not on phone)

How much? Some of that stuff (BSAudio/Audioquest cables) is not worth what it sells for new. Not even close. The speakers look pretty decent tho.

Yes, I was going to say that the Monitor Audio Silver should sound pretty good and the cherry finish is nice. Take the cable if he throws it in cheap but don't pay going prices for it. Digital cables either work or they don't. A Monoprice cable will do just as well. The power conditioner is not a must unless you have brown-outs in your area. The NuForce amp already has a good power supply built in so power conditioning does nothing to improve the sound. All it provides is voltage stability at the outlet but the voltage regulation built into the amp is more than enough to provide clean DC power to the circuitry. The PS Audio Ultimate is way over-priced though. A computer battery backup with power conditioning from APC will do the same thing for less than half of the cost. It just won't look as pretty. ;)

The amp and speakers and chromecast dongle should work fine (I use one) in that setting.

I'd almost suggest active speakers but you may get a bit of hiss in a desktop/nearfield setting that can be annoying to some.

Was I seeing things? Thought you had a price listed earlier....

You going to buy it or keep shopping/assemble your own? Personally I see little value in anything there except the integrated amp and speakers, and it's not that great a discount over retail....IMO. Lots of options out there for such a system, tho.

PS I like the speakers in this offer mostly, the integrated amp for its cost retail is just meh.

I admit that some of the appeal is it’s all available as a system. At some point I will take the time to learn more about hi fidelity but simply have too many working hours at this point. I shopped for my system out of college and learned a lot. System sounded great but at that time was only working 40 hrs per week. I’m also a bit overwhelmed with the choices. I know I don’t want to spend the $$ to get back into vinyl or cds so streaming is my source. Just wanting a crisp sound without spending a huge amt (had $2500 in my system in 1985. Don’t want to go crazy this time).

I think we can definitely help you out, best to ask before buying as we like to say around here. There are some excellent choices out there without getting sucked into silly wire and electrical boxes like the seller you have apparently has. Lots of choices and tech to consider indeed. Start with just how would you like to source/stream your digital files (definitely would not recommend going back to vinyl, altho I still buy and rip cds...and play them not on optical disc players generally).

Where does the $750 fit in budget-wise?

You just want a simple 2 channel setup for music? How far will you be from the speakers and what kind of music do you listen to? Anything with deep bass? Would you say $750 - $1000 all in?

Appreciate it!!! $750 is a good figure. I like the Chromecast Audio option as it has optical connection and connects over WiFi.

Thanks for this. In office it’s mainly blues and jazz although I am a big AC/DC fan.

My office has low walls and sloped ceiling.

Desk is in corner near stairs and speakers will be approximately 18’ away

But where in there would speakers be situated (and how) as well as your seating?

I am in corner on right of stairs (actually left as drawing is flipped). Speakers on each side of window on other side of room

Edit. Speakers can be on stands or I could mount shelves. This is system I was looking at so speakers on stands on each side of window (illustration purposes only as advised against this system)
