Better off with a higher performing desktop system, than whole room, if you want to spare the boss. In other words, if you like the effect of loud music dynamics, without entertaining the neighborhood, a simple 2.1 system is better than hearing something in the whole room that you always wish could be just a little bit louder.

I mean, I can't imagine listening to AC/DC at casual levels. It's just not done.

I have such a system. I stream from my desktop pc, since I am there, more often than not. At least at night time.

Just looked at pics closer and see this is a DDA-120 which was cheaper and had quality issues. Going to wait for advice of the experts here and be patient

And this is 10% of the asking price at retail, yet it does absolutely nothing to make the sound better. IF you buy this, sell the AudioQuest for whatever you can get, or ask the seller to delete it, at a steep discount. Gold makes no difference on an optical link.
