Denon AVC-X3700H setup low quality

Ive just checked the Sony website and my TV does support Dolby Digital Plus.

Did your avr confirm receipt of such?

It wouldn't be a sound mode, it would be as a recognized input format as an available sound mode, if not simply first tune to such on detecting it. It's possible the source doesn't output the format....
