Conspiracy theories, that’s a hoot! My party’s not the one that’s been registering dead people so long we figured we’d run one for office.
To be fair, your party can't even motivate the LIVING to vote.:D

Ask your wife what U07.1 refers to.

Never mind, there is no COVID-19 ICD-10 code for death, only infection. Why would that be relevant to my point?
Let me refresh your memory. You said:

"Um, there’s actually some truth to this but it’s being told in a stupid way. No, Dr’s aren’t inflating the death count, hospitals and other entities within healthcare are. It’s not some grand conspiracy, it’s simple accounting. There is additional money hospitals are getting for COVID-19 and they are trying to find legitimate ways to attribute deaths to COVID. Whether it’s money now or funding in the future for preparedness it’s in the interest of everyone, if it wasn’t they wouldn’t do it."

Explain specifically how hospitals are "inflating the death count"?

How are they getting "additional money" for falsifying death certificates?

This seems to have escaped you, so I'll make it simple. Hospitals are paid for treating patients. These are people who are alive. Hospitals do not get paid for listing COVID-19 on a death certificate.

Prove me wrong.

That pic is awesome. Years from now, some kid will see that pic and ask his grandmother, "What the f#%k was wrong with you people Nana?"

Yeah, lots of bad info coming from many places. The news is one of the worst offenders- conflicting reports are rampant. I think that the info on a death certificate depends on whether an autopsy is done- the certificates we got for my parents were one page each.
As far as I can tell, Reuters is accurate and unbiased (if a bit dry). Are you aware of any information to the contrary?

That’s definitely one source I go to but I also try to read international news sources. The same news company writes entirely different articles for different parts of the world, it’s almost like they just want to sell news to the locals. If you read enough different sources you can actually have your own opinion, it’s crazy but true.

I agree. In fact, that's the strategy I've been using. I even read CNN and Fox News, just to see what the fringes say.

For the most part Fox News is just as bad as CNN. Thompson Reuters is much better, balance with BBC, asiatimes, Haaretz etc... American news sources are beyond garbage for the most part.

I do take into account many immigrants are very disturbed by the current Democratic Party, they left for a reason. Yes, the Far left scares the piss out of me.

Me too. The self-styled Democratic Socialists trying to remake the Democratic party to their liking, are just as guilty in the polarization of the US as Trump and his supporters are.

That's one of the sources I use but I don't know how they could know how this is done in every city/county unless they have people searching for specifics- that would be very tedious (although a good idea).

Agreed. I watched both the day after each debate and it was like they were analyzing totally different debates.

Registering? Perhaps someone is really confused about the facts.
Most likely what happens is family do not delete them form the voter registration list. Do you have data evidence that dead people do vote?
Being on the list is not the same as voting. People just don't bother to have their names removed from voter registration when the move or die.
And, of course you don't have evidence that republicans remove themselves when they move or family removes them when they die.
Better yet, anyone been prosecuted for this?

Me too but the far right isn't any more comforting. I read a right wing forum quote referring to Trump getting undermined by the "Communist China virus". Since when did any virus show affiliation to a political party???????

Well, it’s finally November,
The month, if I remember,
When the nation finally casts it’s vote.

Will we fire that liar?
Flush the turd on November third?
What will be the fate of that goat?

Will he be promoted?
Or be outvoted?
Will he skip town in darkness,
before he’s demoted?

The IRS should check his bags,
for all the back taxes he owes.
Not to mention the White House
silverware, towels and linen.

But I’d just as soon buy him,
a one-way ticket to Greenland,
and watch him fly off in the night

… and look for some political penicillin.

Seriously, I have no life.
Time for an update.

Europe is now in the grip of a vicious second wave of the pandemic. Most countries in Europe have locked down. Travel, especially by air has now virtually stopped.
England will go under lockdown Thursday, Wales has been under lockdown for over a week, and NI under lockdown for some time. Scotland is saying with a complex 5 tier system for the time being.

Hospitals in Liverpool are becoming overrun and cancelling urgent cancer surgery even.

In the US we have total chaos, and a quite appalling situation in most states. One decent study showed that between March and June Covid-19 deaths had been under reported by almost 90,000 as judged by excess deaths. So I suspect true deaths are now around 400,000 and it is possible could e approaching half a million.

In the rural areas of the Midwest things are getting desperate, especially in North and South Dakota. Idiot Trump continues to hold super spreader events. His rally in Bemidji sent 24 to the hospital within the week, two of whom went to the ICU. The serious situation in Beltrami and Hubbard Counties seem attributable directly to the super spreader event the clown held there.

Bemidji hospital is now in a difficult situation. They are allied with Fargo and part of Sandford Health out of Sioux Falls just recently bought by Intermountain Health out of Utah. Fargo hospitals are full, so a macabre game of musical chairs has started. If Bemidji needs to send a critical Covid-19 case to Fargo, they have to take a less serious case from Fargo in return. So the Life Flight Helicopter takes and case to Bemidji and takes the serious case to Fargo.

I am told that the certified nursing assistants are scared and leaving their posts, and agency CNAs are having to be flown in at great expense.

Things seem to be going worse than even the worse predictions currently and I think will get worse. Figures in the UK showed that the hospital, ICU and death trends were exceeding the worst case models. Hence the lockdown.

In the US I think we are in a very bad place and feel things will be horrific round the country this winter due the acts of a truly evil and vile president. His claims about doctors inflating the figures are totally beyond the pale. A recent study in Medscape showed that one in six hospital cases are now either hospital workers or members of their families.

Dr Fauci gave a half hour interview with the editor of JAMA this past week which I post here.

Here is an update from the FDA with Dr Marks, who will make the call on EUA for vaccines.

On the therapeutics front, the biggest advance has been the success of cheap Dexamethasone in serious cases along with better Oxygen administration.

Remdesivir seems to shorten time to recovery but does not reduce mortality. Monoclonal antibodies given early reduces hospitalization 70%, in early studies. However it does not seem to help cases who are bad enough to be admitted to hospital. So E.I. Lily stopped their in hospital study. The US government have spent over a billion dollars on E.I. Lily's monoclonal antibody at $1,250 per dose.

On the vaccine front a Bristol university study showed the Oxford vaccine cause the body to make a perfectly exact copy of the S-spike antigen and produced an extremely robust antibody response and T-cell response in all recipients, including elderly subjects.

There are a number of vaccine candidates of which the Oxford vaccine is the most promising on a number of counts.

The UK is embarking on very controversial challenge studies. They will give unprotected volunteers the virus to determine the reliable infectious dose. This is the most dangerous and controversial part of the study. This is to avoid the need for a blinded study and will greatly reduced the number of unprotected volunteers that need to be exposed to the virus. Volunteers will be injected with the various contenders, and once they show a good immune response will be exposed to a reliable infectious dose on Covid-19 virus.

Boris Johnson is hoping to have enough people in the UK vaccinated against Covid-19 to ease restrictions by March 2021.

We certainly have to wish these volunteers well and hope they all survive.

The best hope to turn things around in the US, is for President Trump to get his head handed to him on a plate tomorrow or the subsequent few days. As you know he lost this Republican vote some time ago.

Thanks for the update. And for getting the thread back in track.

As Kurt asked earlier, let's try to keep the political stuff out of here and concentrate on keeping ourselves informed.

I can't be the only one that needs a break from politics?
