If a picture is worth a thousand words, this graph says it all.

And here's a similar graph with death data
View attachment 37499
Not only have they not fallen if I'm reading that data correctly they seem to be increasing

Looks like we will have to keep a close eye on the fatality one on the bottom it's not rising yet but it's not dropping anymore either

Thanks for the information

Yes, new cases are on the upswing ever since Memorial Day weekend.

I've read that you can expect deaths to lag behind new cases by about 2 weeks or longer.

Note also that the new cases data is as of June 18, but the deaths data is as of June 13.

One final question how long before any impact from the protesting could show up on graphs like these

You see a lot of people pinning rising data on those protests but from what your showing here this is a rise from memorial day weekend and reopening in ceartin places correct?

Many speculate ironically and I'm curious as well that outdoors will really minimize any impact that the protests might have outdoors it doesn't seem to like that environment very well from what researchers seem to have found

But how long do we need to wait before data like this can tell us any impact that may have had in your estimation?

At least 2-3 weeks? Longer? Similar to the lag time after Memorial Day weekend.

Those people who are "pinning rising data on those protests" may be overestimating the effect. It seemed to involve fewer people that the numbers who traveled or partied over Memorial Day weekend. Maybe they're right, or maybe "those people" are watching too much Faux News .

At Memorial Day weekend or at protests, people spent plenty of time indoors traveling, sleeping, etc. as well as outdoors.

Outdoors, in theory, should lead to less transmission of the virus than indoors. But that assumes the virus also knows that theory.

We've heard talk about how the virus should "go away" during the warmer summer months, just like the flu. So far, we haven't seen any evidence to support that. All the new outbreaks in southern states like Florida, Texas, Arizona would argue against that.

That's because stupid American's have made Health issues political. And Trump claiming the way to fix the Virus is to stop testing. He needs an Ostrich with it's head in the sand T-Shirt.

I call my Ostrich 'Rodger', because that's what's gonna happen to it if it keeps its head in the sand for too long.

We were doing very well here until the damn tourist season started and people started going out because the gov decided to help push Trumps message about getting back to normal. We went from somewhere around 60 cases to something like 600 in a month. So, all that work we did to keep away from everyone and isolate properly is now for nothing. Great.

Exactly, god forbid someone be mildly inconvenienced for the betterment of the population as a whole.

Granted, we are the country where people think that if they pay taxes anything those taxes go to should only help them.

Could you imagine if someone proposed libraries today?

"So, I pay taxes and they go to keep this book borrowing thing free. For EVERYONE?!?!? No way. If people want to read they need to buy books like everyone else."

Here in Louisiana its going up since the state had opened back up. Reported new cases are higher than when the State was on lockdown. There are Confrontations breaking out in stores around here between shoppers who have face masks on and the ones who don't. Bar rooms are having parties to get people back in like free band music no cover charge at the door. Free rounds of drinks free food. The one's that are out and about that are the Nastiest with Attitude are the young Adults they are the one's passing around that Deadly virus. Mostly :pNot just The Caucasian race its all Races. Where I live there is a High mix of Different Nationalities. Hispanic, Latino, African-American even Middle eastern countries Islamic Columbia. All those stop and rob truck stop casinos are open Full of fools Gambling with their lives and passing the lost onto Unsuspecting citizens. Contaminating everything from food at store to the Gas pump handles at your favorite gas station.

Look what happened to Florida, look at what happened to California and Arizona and Texas. That's what happens when you're reckless, you're careless and you let your guard down. When the lock down lifted, there wasn't sufficient guidance by political leaders and public health workers to guide the community to continue precautions.

Too much attention was placed on the economic impact and this made weak leaders think it was better to swing the other way and let people die rather than continue precautions - when in fact you could open the economy and still kept people safe with proper guidance. Other countries now laugh at how poorly the US is run while their populations work together to cut down Virus infection. Public health should never become a political football.

The USA infection rate is going to continue to be a raging wild fire until enough people die that communities wake up to the fact that they are on their own. No one will save them but themselves. When each person realizes they need to take precautions and work for the common good, the virus will be in decline.

Political and health leaders failed Americans when they told them masks were not needed in the beginning. These mixed messages from short sighted leaders will cause the death of hundreds of thousands in the USA. By Election Day more than 200,000 Americans will be dead and before this event is complete 500,000 will die. Much of this could have been avoided with honest health guidance, adequate testing, tracking and quarantine procedures. The CDC has been an absolute failure in this crisis.

The city where I live has a library that's shared by three other communities- they're wrangling over who pays for what, how much, for how long and whether to use the existing building or move to another. I just saw the cost to renovate the existing or proposed buildings and for the life of me, I can't understand why that would cost $4 million. I would think they could build new for that price.

Europe prepares to reopen to foreign travelers, but Americans don’t even figure into the discussion:

"European diplomats are poised to approve an agreement on which foreign travelers they want to welcome starting July 1 as the European Union reopens its external borders for the first time since March. But with the coronavirus still raging in the United States, the possibility of allowing American tourists hasn't even figured into the discussion, according to six diplomats familiar with the talks.
...
The decision underscores the perception here that the United States has failed in its coronavirus response. European leaders and health experts have watched with unease as many American states insist on reopening, even as infections spike in many parts of the country. ...
