Hey Grant,
Assuming you have a BestBuy nearby, Take a listen to the Martin Logan 60XT's (it may be that it has to be a BB with Magnolia room). These speakers have the type of sound we would tend to call neutral and are most like the ones Ryan mentioned. We don't recommend these speakers so much because you can get equivalent for less; but if you just want to have a listen locally, the 60XT is a good speaker (and the price isn't terrible, $2500/pr).
I would forget about replacing any of the other gear and put your money into speakers-they just make a huge difference compared to the electronics!
That said,
@PENG is our electronics guru and if he has reason to suspect the volume control in your Yamaha, you can get a "PENG approved" Denon AVR-X3500H (open box with full 3year warranty) for $550! You may not have heard of Acessories4Less, but many of us have bought from them and they have become my "go to" (they usually have the best price, although it always is worthwhile to check Amazon in case there is some type of special happening before ordering). They run a honest business. They will charge a restocking fee if you return something simply because "you didn't like it", but I consider that fair because compared to most businesses, their mark up does not include the cost of a satisfaction guarantee. Of course, if it is defective, they will not charge a restocking fee!

But save where you can and put your money into the best speakers you can afford! Tell us your budget and we can help you out!
Personally, when I see someone with the kind of gear you have, I expect to see much better speakers paired with it. I have speakers at over $4,000 (MSRP) for the pair and only use a $120 Sony DVD player to play CD's. I also have an Oppo, but I would defy you to pick between them in a blind test! I stick with Sony BD players because they support the SACD format (I assume Sony developed SACD) without paying for anything extra to get it!
I checked out B&W 600 series speakers and was not at all impressed, but that was 10 years ago and I suspect they have modified them since.
