I bet if they had completely separated Monolith from Monoprice and used a name that doesn't sound like Monoprice and not sold on the Monoprice website, it would be a different story.

Unfortunately, people do associate Monolith with Monoprice and they associate Monoprice with CHEAP.

For example, if they had bought the name Sunfire or Carver Audio or another completely different name (like Lexington, Vienna Audio), and created a different website, these "Sunfire 200x7" or "Carver Audio 200x5" amps or "Lexington" 11Ch amps would be selling like hotcakes. :D

From what I understand they're selling pretty well right now even with that stigma am I correct?

I think they are selling pretty well --- probably taking customers from Emotiva and Outlaw.

But I think it could have been even bigger.

That's a shame I think Gene was saying on another thread correct me if I'm wrong but that 11 channel Monolith is like one of the best 11 channel deals out there right now

I agree. I don't think there is a better 11Ch amp. Got all the right numbers where they count. Made by ATI. Looks solid.

Gene is willing to change his Yamaha 11Ch amp for the Monoprice 11Ch amp. I bet the Monoprice 11Ch amp will have more output coming from ATI.

But I'm still keeping my Yamaha 11Ch amp. :D

I'm surprised ATI doesn't have an 11Ch amp like this. But I guess people could get the AT527 + AT524 amps for 11Ch or + AT526 for 13Ch, although some people might want a single box for the amp. :D

All that for $2500 tough to beat. Also they did it right making all the channels 100 watts RMS instead of Emotivas 60 watts RMS on there's. I mean you only need so much power but still c'mon. Plus there AB no switching power supply you can't go wrong with that

As we all know, there's a real advantage with separate amp chassis. If one is defective, you still can use the other(s) while the non-functionig one is out for repair. Another positive aspect is that this option makes it easier to move them as each unit should normally weigh less than the single big box.

This. I like. Break it up into two or three units... or monoblocks up front with a multichannel for some of the surrounds. If there is an AVR, use that to power rears and atmos. :)

There are pros and cons to each.

If my 58LB-11CH Yamaha amp is 100% reliable, then I don't have to worry.

Having a lot of smaller amps might cost more money, might not look as pleasing, will require more power cords, etc.

How much are your four QSC amps?
As we say, there's a price for everything. :)

Since I had a contact at QSC, after enquiring about power amplifier more suitable for my needs, I could buy them from the Canadian distributor at 25% discount. For the DCA 1222s, I paid CA$898 + tax for each and I was lucky to get a slightly used DCA 1824 for only CA$600 through Canuck Audio Mart. This 1824 model new retails for around $1380 in the US.

So that's $3300 for 10Ch Amps?

The Yamaha 11Ch amp was on clearance so I paid about $1500.

I think in general, buying multiple smaller amps cost more money than a single MCH amp.

But as you said, if the single MCH amp isn't extremely reliable, then it will be a problem.

The other "audiophile" issue is that these 11Ch MCH amps won't be 300W x 11Ch amps either. :D

But if the 11MCH amp serves your power-need and is extremely reliable, then things work out. :D

Seriously? That's a thing? Or is it just wrong to say if you are a 'Murican? :p

;)
What's wrong with Canuck Audio Mart? There is often excellent audio gear selling on the Canadian branch website.

Well, I can't be a Murican because I'm a Canadian. Also, I'm educated and politically liberal.
A very good friend of mine is from BC. Uncertain if he's become a citizen here, yet, though he was working towards that... I kidded him once or twice, of course, in the way that people in the service industry do. ;)
I also grew up in a certain city that had an area called "D@go" Hill when I was growing up... Now just known as "the Hill." Historically an Italian neighborhood... Surprise. *shakes head
Humans are a strange [read: silly] lot, aren't we. *shakes head again, more shamefully
In the end, we are all humans, floating around on this large rock, together! ;) Wish more people saw it that way! :D We'd sure as hell be a lot better off!!!

Just remove narcissistic politicians and religions, and we could have a peaceful planet.

BTW, I do know you, Peng, and several others friends are north of here. :) I have a special sensitivity due to my upbringing, I guess. I was in a shcool that went from majority-white to not while I was attending, in a racially charged urban area. I learned, and changed a lot during my senior year in high school. :) For the better. I don't consider it politically correct, rather just... aware. ;)
