I know.
But you know how some people talk about keeping that "shortest signal path" and how separates are a lot more pure a cleaner than AVR?
And then they go and add another piece of signal path to their "short path".
To me, if you want to be cost-effective or economically-sound, get a mid-level AVR on sale that will sound as great as separates.
If you want to be fancy, get an AVP.
If you just care about 2Ch stereo, you can also just get one stereo preamp.
But there's no point adding a preamp to the AVR or AVP with a so-called "HT Bypass".
