that's weird because a month ago this system worked and I played music through the whole house so I'm confused how it couldn't have worked?
What you have is a multi-zone amp powering some of the speakers and the JVC appears to be wired and powering speakers as well. If the JVC is NOT a multi-zone AVR, (it does not appear to be) one of the Russounds has to function as a switcher/control unit for the speakers that are not connected to the JVC.
The Russound amp(s) must to be connected to the JVC, or the Sony in order to receive a source signal...if no speakers play, I would start with the AVR....make sure you have a solid connection with the source...if the speakers connected to the AVR play, then you can move on to the Rossound amp and it's connection with the JVC.
My system is set up like so.
Z1...speakers (LCR+ surrounds) connected to m2200s, and Emo A500 which are connected to the pre/pro
Z2...speakers (family rm + sunroom) connected to a switch/control box which is powered by the Emo A800, which is connected to the pre/pro
- Z2 is covers two different spaces, to control on/off and volume for both spaces (sub-zone) within the zone, I needed a switch/control box.
Z3...speakers (master bdrm) connected to the Emo A800 which is connected to the pre/pro
The Pre/pro or in your case the JVC should be assigning the source for the zone. Which might be the same source for all zones.
You need to get to the root of your system to gain a better understanding of what you're working with....again, start with speakers directly connected to the JVC.
