Would I notice any differences?

Or are you guys saying it's all in my head and I should return it and save up to go dual subs instead of waiting till I pay the amp off, which would only take 10 months to pay off.
I don't see anyone saying that, but if you ask them to guess, some will guess yes and some will guess no.
As I suggested earlier, it is better to rely on verifiable specifications.

Below are links to bench measurements of both, Gene of Audioholics.com measured the Outlaw 5000, and Soundstage.com measured the Halo A23

Halo A23:

"Power output (stereo mode)
  • Power output at 1% THD+N: 131.5W @ 8 ohms, 193.5W @ 4 ohms
  • Power output at 10% THD+N: 160.0W @ 8 ohms, 227.5W @ 4 ohms"
Outlaw 5000:
https://www.audioholics.com/amplifier-reviews/outlaw-5000/measurements

"...continuous sweep tests produced 170 watts/channel for 8 ohms, two channels driven and 230 watts/ch for 4 ohms, two channels driven under 0.1% THD+N."

Both reviewers used the AP analyzer, so while done in different labs, I would guess that they results should be comparable, and it would appear that the Outlaw, 170 W into 8 ohms, 2 channel driven, at 0.1% THD+N, is actually more powerful than the A23's 131 W at 1 % THD+N.

So unless the A23 sounds obviously better to you in a blind level match test, you could in fact save the money for subwoofers.

Seriously, I have no life.

Hard to say as we don't know how you compared the two amps.
Levels need to be matched to 0.1 dB spl at the speakers to start with, then there are a few more procedures to follow.

Just plugged it in, ran ypao on the cx-a5000, then ran pure direct mode and listened to a few familiar tracks

What is your seating distance, and approx room size? And what's the CX-A5000 volume position for the comparison?

Seating distance is about 8' from the front wall and the room is 18 by 18 and I know square rooms suck. I try to keep the volume at Yamaha reference which is about -18 to -16DB

If YPAO set the levels to around 0, then with volume at -16, you amp should be cruising at about 3 watts average and the spl should be around 86 dB average, and that's just with one speaker, based a conservative sensitivity of 89 dB/1W/1m, with no room gain allowed. That's very loud, 1 dB above THX reference. It is a good thing you sit so close to the speakers. So if you hear an improvement, keep it, but objectively speaking I don't think it helps. In my opinion, it is better to go with a 3X300 W amp for the 3Fs and C, or just go for better subwoofers.
