Agreed, but at some point it does become more than just a past time. Certainly a passion for many of us.I don't consider it a hobby.
On unneeded I can agree if yoou can agree that in audio world unneeded is almost insignificant. MC tapes are coming back fo C sake. We have a young guy going all the way back to reel2reel.making it appear that equipment between the source and speakers will soon be unneeded.
Don't feel used, It was a two way deal. Funny how your parents would rather spend and buy you a music system than have you look at those filthy magazines.actually I was being used to expand his music collection, and I knew that, but it didn't bother me. In addition to the music, I had my 1st peeks at playboy, penthouse etc...he was the big brother I never had!!
That evolved into my folks getting me my own music system later that year...(a low end RadioShack system) even back then I could tell that my LPs sounded better on his system than mine. Fast forward some 10-12 yrs and I bought my very 1st hi-fi stereo system...A NAD stereo pre amp, a NAD CD player, HK 2 channel power amp, and a pair of Linn book shelf speakers.
Trust me...I never did feel used...actually kinda felt honored in way that this high schooler would let me hang out with him...lol...had to be a small price to pay for that I felt.Don't feel used, It was a two way deal. That's the EXACT opposite of me, though it's changed a little now. It used to be I'd hear something I liked on the radio, then go buy it. Now I hear something I like as I click around various areas of Tidal HiFi. If I REALLY like it, I buy the high res download or CD.The desire to listen to real music drew me in. I dont buy music to listen to an artist, I buy music to listen to my gear.
