I can't believe what these 'bling' audiophile companies get by with. That Moon product is nothing more than a Beverly Hills store front.
I think if the CP-8 had been sold for $6K (the Denon AVR-2809 was $1,200), people might have been more forgiving. But $18K was too much.

Moon Audio did have to remove those dam-dirty-amps from the AVR-2809 and fit those components into a very sexy sleek case. :D

The $6K McIntosh MX121 pre-pro (MX122 is the new one) also had the same Audyssey XT as the Moon Audio CP-8 (not XT32 like in the Denon X3000 and up).

I bet before everyone caught on, people were raving about how awesome this new $18K pre-pro sounded! :D

But you have to admit, regardless of price or controversy, that Moon Audio CP-8 with Audyssey XT Dynamic EQ sounded pretty sweet, right? ;)

If I were a multi-billionaire and wanted to support the economy :D, I would buy a fully balanced "Moon Audio CP-32" (based on the Denon AVP-A1HDCI) for $30K. :D

Then there was Oppo and Ayre. Remember that?
Yep, the $3,500 Lexicon, $5K Theta, and $10K Ayre were rebadged $500 Oppo BD players. :D

$10K for a BD player is beyond words. :D

I don't have any dreams of any BD players, though. :D

I could not see that as supporting "the" economy so much as supporting a scam!

If you want to support the economy, you can take the $30K and buy 50 Denon AVR-3400's and give them to all your AH buddies!;)

Wait..... looks great, but sound.. see post#5 in the linked post:

Sorry, Mikado, not directed at you at all, I always want to try a Passlab but got too many amps already to justify the spending. I finally settled to build Nelson Pass's 5 W DIY class A kit.
I could care less about amps within reason because even the best I will get used to and take it for granted how good it actually is, or the speakers that end up being the key ingredient. I built the Pass Amp Camp Amps and was really treating it like a novelty with junkyard charm. They sound great and I am giving the Fusion-12 Tempests the bulk of the credit here.

Still, something great happened with this matchup. No EQ, no room correction but I am using bass management and the sub frequencies 80hz down are going to the subs with the mains set to small. I feel bad about it because I like the amps in my old Denon and now I am just using it's pre-outs.

Before this, I pretty much took N. Pass with a grain of salt like the tube guys. Beyond my understanding, or even audio desires or needs. But this Amp Camp Amp, causes me to view his work a bit differently now. I don't know if I just had a really great Magoo mishap of components come about or what, but this setup sounds bloody fantastic. I think Nelson Pass has made a bit of a funny on the audio world with these simple circuits.

With that said, a no limit dream system? I'd be damned disappointed if it didn't sound as good as these $150 DIY amps do, and I cannot imagine an upgrade from here.

They now have the 1.6 version, for a little over $600 you can now build them as monoblocks to get up to 20 WPC. If I knew it at the time, I would have waited, though the 1.5's 5 WPC should make no difference for me as I typically use less than 0.25 W average where the LS50 are, moving them to the guest bed room would mean less than 0.1 W average, with almost 20 dB for peaks before the little thing clips.
