Good day everyone ,

So I found that running hdmi out main to 4x2 matrix input, hdmi out sub to tv, matrix output 1 to second tv and matrix output 2 to projector will work for having 3 displays in my theater room. Now if I do same thing except run matrix output 2 to second avr input and then output to 3rd display I now have the amplifying power of a second avr. The problem is Both my onkyo (tx-nr 646) and (tx-sr806) have different volume gain increase and decrease speeds. I control everything via harmony hub and can turn both avrs up and down at the same time but one gains faster than the other. My hope was to bi amp my fronts off 646 and 806 and maybe even extra surrounds and sb speakers. Could anyone shed some insight on how to correct my gain matching issues ???

Thanks.
Connor

It's not very clear as to what your setup/s is / are. It almost seems like your using 2 AVRs in the same room?? List all gear make and model and exactly what your setup is.

So two surround Systems in the same room?
Yea , I don't have any more speakers set up at the moment ,just using second avr to pass through video but I figured if I set crossovers and delays /trims why not run some front heights off one and surround backs off the other.

Why not just get an avr or prepro that handles all the video. Two AVRs and a matrix switch is way over complicated and is a recipe for sync disaster

You need to design your surround system to be a surround system and the other areas need to be designed with appropriate audio for those location. It sounds like you are making a case for "If I throw enough speakers into the space, it eventually will sound great!" - which just isn't the case.

Properly plan your areas and spaces and get the gear that is appropriate to the design. It seems like you have two TVs, side by side, that may be showing the exact same thing, for some reason, and no real way to listen to them separately. Perhaps there's a way to view different things on them. But, audio in the general use space likely should be stereo, if not simply mono so that everyone can hear clearly what is going on.

The theater space should be the focus and use of the surround receiver.

Of course, we then get into the headaches of current content not supporting 2-channel audio along with surround sound at the same time on 90% of new sources.
