Ok ive been experimenting. Right now i have 2 sets of speakers on zone 2 for the outside. The speakers under the patio work fine and dont trip the receiver. The other set of speakers
(I believe they are niles. They are the $200 a piece rock speakers), they trip the receiver! The Russound x-75 amp is hooked up to the zone 2 left & right pre out. The speakers go to a speaker volume switch outside and from there they go to a niles speaker selctor switch.
The outside speaker wire is the CL3 direct burial wire. So do u think it could be the amp, receiver or speakers? And what do u suggest from here? Thanks again guys. I really appreciate the help. It's driving me nuts
How are the outside speakers you think are the Niles connected? Do you have an ohm meter?
If so, may need to do some resistance measuring. It seems that when you have the 2nd 2 speakers turned on your trouble begins.
Something is not wired properly.
And if that 2nd amp is connected through that pre out for zone 2 correctly per page 135 or 136 in the manual and some input on the amp for the zone 2 speakers, then there is no reason for the main receiver going into protection if that is what you are implying. Or, the amp driving zone 2 speakers is the oen going into protection.
If the latter, either there is a short someplace on that 2nd set of speakers or how it is connected to the volume controls. Or, speaker impedance is too low and exceeds switch capacity to handle.
