Can you please clarify the exact model numbers? Is that a PMA520 integrated amp? Which speakers do you have? CD player? Just helps to know exactly what we're dealing with here....and budget clarification would be good, too.
I basically want four speakers and a sub and to be able to hear my tv through the speakers! So I'm wondering what the best thing would be? Either the avr home cinema x2400 or the 720 denon amplifier? Both are apparently able to take four speakers and a sub? So what is best decision

I have a Denon 520 series amplifier , Denon add 41 speakers and a 520 series cd player! I have been looking at the denon avr receiver X 2400 and the 3300 avr! And the 720 Denon amplifier! I think both the home cinema avr receivers and the 720 can both take four speakers and a sub! I suppose i want to know what the difference between the avr and 720 is ! I essentially want four speakers and a sub! As well as being able to hear my TV through the speakers and have a laptop hooked up!
I get a model PMA-520 when searching "Denon 520 series amplifier", from 1989, also a PMA-520AE which is a bit more current. Both of these are two-channel integrated amps; I'll assume you have the PMA-520AE.

The PMA-720AE is another two channel amp but with an A and B speaker set, which are not intended to be in the same room (it is not a four-channel processor). No sub pre-out, just a left/right pre-out for an external amp (for left and right full range speakers). You could mickey-mouse a sub with such an integrated amp's pre-outs but an avr would be better.

An avr can actually handle multi-channel sound (5.1/7.1 sources) and provide bass management for using a subwoofer (applying a crossover between speakers and sub to eliminate duplication of frequencies reproduced in both). I'd go with the avr for your stated purposes.

Couldn't find the speakers "Denon add 41"...

They're fairly similar, pick for the features/connectivity you want. The advantage I see in the 3300 is that it has pre-outs for all channels to provide more amplification options; the 2400 has Heos capability.

Are you in the UK? You can do much better for speakers, but those Denon SCD41s could work well for surround speakers. your choices of subs are limited compared to here in the US. What would be your budget for speakers and sub?

I'd budget for three speakers across the front, as for movies/tv the center channel is the one carrying the most information. One sub may suffice, particularly for one seat, but multiple subs help smooth response at multiple seats (sub frequencies work a bit differently in rooms, try this article, as well as part 2).

The lowest end avrs like the S510BT I'd generally avoid personally but may work for you. Use the comparison tool on the Denon site to see just what the differences are on various models would be my suggestion.

For speakers in your neck of the woods I'd look at Wharfedale, think they have some speakers that will work with your budget. A few hundred doesn't buy a lot of sub, but check out XTZ and B&K Electric.

I can't emphasise enough that you try to buy the front 3 speakers all at the same time. They need to be matched. I too would advise you to move up from the S510BT. At least go to the AVR-S730H if not the AVR-S930H.

The Denon SCD41 were intended for a mini HiRes HiFi system, but like others, I'd suggest you use them for the rears in the system.

You want 3 to 5 speakers : left, center, right, surround L, surround right and sub. The four speaker idea isnt surround sound the way your thinking of it. You were considering running two sets off the mains AB channels which can work but doesn't give you surround sound as it is currently known.

Use the denon speakers as the surrounds, new front 3 speakers and sub (connected corresponding to the rear panel of the 3300). Sources, if possible , should be connected to the 3300 with hdmi, if not the next highest connection. Then connect the 3300 to your tv via hdmi. As for the setup of the 3300, I'd refer you to the manual first.
