I vote marantz, but chances are you don't need pre-pro and would be fine with receiver with pre-outs

Both units are great, and both seem to have all the same features. I just like Anthem's stuff. Save a big chunk of cash with the Marantz.

I suppose the most notable differences are the looks and MultEQ Pro vs. ARC.

I'm a big Marantz fan, but Anthem makes a better sounding product. The only caveat I will mention is that you may run into problems with Anthem and control systems such as Control4. There are driver and control issues with Anthem processors and AVRs.

I notice that neither Anthem nor Marantz gives any detail on what DAC chipset their units use. There may be some of that detail in third party reviews though. That may make some slight difference in how one might serve you better than the other.

You may be right about Anthem but Marantz does specify the DAC used in their 8802A. It is also pretty much public knowledge that D&M uses the AK4490 in their flagship units.

If you could skip your speaking wiring curiosities and concentrate on specific speaker models - it would be more helpful to the thread.

In Direct modes (no Room Correction, DSP, EQ, etc), you won't hear a difference between Marantz vs Anthem.

If you do use Room Correction, some people will say they prefer Anthem while some prefer Audyssey. No Room Correction software is perfect. Everyone is different.

I have played with both Audyssey & Anthem. I don't like any room correction.

I prefer Audyssey just for the Dynamic EQ function. I like Dynamic EQ for my Subwoofer output.

I love my Denon AVP-A1HDCI pre-pro + ATI AT3005 amp combo. ;)

Anthem makes a better sounding product
I've played with both Denon & Anthem. I think Denon makes a better sounding product.

Someone may come along and claim that Emotiva somehow makes a better sounding product. :D

It is all a matter of OPINION & PREFERENCE, not a matter of FACT.
