Hi there, just got this forum while i was searching for my home theater solutions and look like all the best ears out there is in here. So I guess this is the right platform where my question is might be answered correctly.
I am looking to buy a home theater system which has good surround sound effect and crystal clear quality, my main purpose is watching movies and I will use my pc for that, I have Asus Xener DG Sound Card in PCI Slot for the audio.
I am from India, so all the best systems you are used to, might not be available here, still if u want, can check http://amazon.in/ for reference.
My budget is $300 - I know its way low but I cant afford more atm.

OK. I'll be the mean old bad guy here and tell you. $300 is not enough to get what you want.

By "home theater system", I suppose you mean a receiver and 5 speakers. The only way I can imagine that for $300 is if you can find a used system somebody needs to sell.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I'm afraid it doesn't help. "Used" will still be the best way to go.
I used your link and did a search on "home theater". Sorted by price, low to high. The only name I recognize is Phillips, and I'm not sure it's the same company.

I suggest you start searching your sources of used equipment. Let us know what you find that's in your budget. Perhaps somebody here may be familiar with it.

But honestly, you can get a much better stereo system, (2 channel), for your money. And if you're watching on a PC, I suppose you're sitting pretty close to the screen, so 5.1 becomes less important and more difficult.

I've had a previous iteration of the Logitech system and it does work fairly well. You're best option might be the Yamaha system because it gives you a real-ish receiver that you can still use if you want to swap speakers in the future.

I agree with Fuzz. I'm not familiar with any of these systems, but Yamaha is a very strong brand and I would tend to trust them. I've had several Yamaha products and been happy with all of them.
