Perfect. Just save up at least $1k and get a pair of subs from any of the Internet Direct manufacturers.

It seems silly that we always recommend this, but it's a failure of the industry to only provide the best value for dollar from a website! So SVS and HSU etc always get brought up. Cause they're good, and when something does fail, they all have a good reputation for fixing it!
It seems like I would go with the HSU then.

They don't bother me but you don't seem to be picking up on what's being thrown down. By bringing in some no-nothings inane comments to this discussion is degrading to all the good souls that are actually trying to help you.

So, pick and choose who you want to listen to: Your idiot friend who "says he knows this stuff" or the people here who actually DO know this stuff.

Someone who said they knew what they were talking about.
By your own admission your likely mix with the insane. You boldly state you listen at "insane levels." That means you will and deserve to be deaf sooner rather than later.

You are using domestic equipment in a modest price and power range. The components are designed for modest and "sane" listening levels.

If you want power levels that will damage your hearing without blowing up your equipment then you need a very large budget.

Speakers and amps that will do what you want are formidable and very costly.

We have had a lot of these "insane posts" from insane posters like yourself, and I and others are getting tired of them. They are a waste if bits.

Now just grab the odd neuron and synapse and whats left of your cochlea and auditory nerve you might posses or have left and move on!

In your budget there is no daylight between "insanely loud" and "really loud."

You have unrealistic and hazardous expectations and that all there is to your story. Move on!

I always thought forums were to get info on questions/issues? So if I don't do what one person askes then I’m wrong. What ever happened to getting more than one/two or even THREE options? Do me a favor. I don't know what I’m doing that’s why I’m here. But if you’re going to totally question my intelligence, don't bother with a reply!

You can get all the opinions you want but don't play us, who are generally of one accord, against some numbnuts that "says" he knows what he's talking about. ...he doesn't.

So, pick and choose who you want to believe.

the subs will take care of the deep bass but everything else is a different matter entirely. Odds are you'll wind up with a boomy system, if it doesn't shut down, maybe permantly.

I do question your intelligence, as I'm certain you can't distinguish use from abuse.

Fact: - Anyone who keeps turning any rig up to the point it shuts down is an abuser of equipment.
We have had a raft of these lately.

This is where I get confused. I was told a two channel setup is what I want for the issue I was having.

I was told that a two channel setup will help not to cut the amp off. So I can have it hooked as a surround sound and crank it up real loud? I'm definitely getting a sub now.

Here is what I would like.

My Yamaha RX-V465 AV Receiver,

Two front Klisph which I already own rf-28 for the front.

A powered sub I’m guessing which I will get.

My two Klisph bookshelf speakers which I will mount on the rear wall.

I want to play it loud at times. Not all the time but if a good pink Floyd song come on I want to jam. Without the stereo shutting down..

That would be my goal.
For music, there isn't any reason to get a surround sound receiver, except for the room correction equalization. You have a entry level surround sound receiver. But yes, for music, a two channel setup will work fine, as long as you don't listen to multi-channel recordings like SACDs or something like that. You can use your current receiver in two-channel mode just fine. Whoever said to get surround speakers for two-channel setup does not know what they are talking about.

Forget what you were told, what I would do is just use the RF-28 tower speakers. Don't even worry about the surround speakers, I would not bother installing them. You will want a good sub. If you like loud, I would get a live audio sub like I linked to before, no home audio subwoofer will be able to get as loud as those do for the same price. The disadvantages of live sound subs is they are a bit industrial looking and they don't dig really deep in frequencies, but for most music, they will go low enough.

Set the speakers to small and use the sub for bass, that will take a load off the receiver. It should be less likely to shut down at that point. If it still shuts down, you need a better receiver. Don't worry about these grumbling old men, they like to complain. It's OK if you like to crank a tune or two now and then, but if you listen to whole albums with maxed out volume, you are asking for permanent hearing damage. Take a look at this page.
