What in the literal **** is that going to help with. ISIS uses families to commit these crimes, do they really think they're going to rat on each other. Absolutely insane and asinine logic. Once again, a law that does nothing to stop real threats.
You know what they say: The family that slays together, stays together.

So, the message is to live at the "lowest common denominator" level of hatred and fear?
You ever been to Texas? :D

... but yeah, livin' in the wild, wild west in 2015 does sound crazy. It's the End Times.

It's a picture that conveys and emotional response.
Agreed, but what is the message or the emotional response?
I ventured it is hatred and fear, but by Chu's response I may have misinterpreted it. Since he posted it, I would like to know what it means to him.

The picture I posted immediately followed B. Stormy's and it was meant to be an alternate look at his comment regarding teaching young ones about gun safety. An extreme look but by no means the most extreme example I could think of. In retrospect though, it was too far removed from the original topic and the comment about Texas' enactment of open carry. It's interesting how not only different cities and states look upon guns but countries too. Here it tends to come down left vs right while say in Israel it's widely supported.

I look at training young 'uns gun safety to teaching them how to change a tire. They may never need to use that skill but when you do, it's good to know, just in case.

Kind of a non sequitur, but...
Many people forget that the middle exists and is growing. The extremes of both the right and left have alienated many of us. From a political standpoint, this benefits the Democrats because they still tolerate moderate Democrats, while the Republican party calls out and eliminates their moderates before or during the primary which only leaves right wing extremists who don't really stand much chance in a popular vote.

Republican, democrat, they're all beholden. I detest the majority on both sides.

Your own link was from 2014 and has nothing to do with "new laws in 2016" now does it? Nothing new to rile folks up, so might as well recycle an old one and change the date. Cute.
Really?

http://www.latimes.com/politics/la-pol-ca-g-california-new-laws-2016-htmlstory.html
(See in the link name, "california-new-laws-2016"?). Read it.
Headline in that link is:

California's new laws for 2016: See how you are affected

Also from LA KABC on Dec 30, 2015: http://abc7.com/news/new-gun-laws-for-2016;-police-warn-of-gunfire-on-new-years-eve/1141731/

"Now, California becomes the first state to allow family members to ask a judge to remove firearms from a relative who appears to pose a threat."

It is not clear to me how the 2016 law differs from the legislation signed by Gov Jerry Brown in 2014. CBS says, "Another (new 2016 law) will allow people to request that a judge order weapons be taken away from relatives who are believed to pose a threat.". http://www.cbsnews.com/news/new-2016-laws-address-guns-smoking-pets-taxes-voting/

Perhaps the 2014 law required a judge to issue a restraining order. Now they can just take his guns without a restraining order. I don't know. But I'm sure my next issue of The American Rifleman from the NRA will explain it to me. One thing is for sure... this is a new law in 2016... ie. "reality based". Unless you're saying that the LA Times, ABC and CBS are all unreliable and make stuff up. Then it's possible you're right. Come to think about it, you may be right after all.

Apology accepted again.

Here's a law I'd like to see enacted - mandatory, random drug testing for elected officials in Congress with penalties including suspension, loss of pay, and potential lifetime suspension from the office they hold.

Fine, Herbu, you win. It's all true. Governor Moonbeam is coming fer yer gunz. (I think you're safe in NC, and I'm safe in Colorado, but thanks for bringing this grippy and terribly important topic to our attention.)

This is every bit as thoughtful as your first post. Interesting how eager you, BSA and KEW are to dismiss any claims about libs squeezing the 2nd Amendment. I expect you'll love B Ho's executive order today. But you're right. The Bill of Rights isn't nearly as grippy or important as "What are you drinking right now?".

WTF?
What did I say that would lead you to that conclusion?
