I like the Melvin Gordon pick even though we gave up a bit to get him. Finally having a decent running game again should help Rivers out a lot.

I don't watch sports as much as I used to, but being a Bears fan I found this hilarious ...

Coming back from being down 21-3?!?!?!

I'll admit I had all but written my Bolts off at that point. Hell of a comeback boys!

Yes the Boys did have a crazy comeback. Not sure what happened to Eli, but he's lost his mind.

Ugly game today between Dallas and Philly. Why did Philly trade for Bradford again?

Strange things happened in the NFC East this week.

Both Dallas and Philadelphia looked bad. Philly lost, but Tony Romo went down with a broken shoulder. How long will he be out? And how long will Philly phans put up with Chip Kelly?

The NY Giants lost too.

And, to add to the weirdness, the Deadskins showed up for a game with St. Louis, and played winning football. I still don't know how to react to that. The Washington fan in me only wishes that both Dallas and Philly could have lost. Too bad about Romo's injury, but I don't believe that Dallas is done for this season.

The Redskins haven't made any big free agent signing announcements this year, presumably because they (finally) hired a real general manager. Is this the year that a seismic shift occurs in the NFL, where free agents and trade acquisitions replace the draft as the best way to build up a team? Or has the Zombie bug that so long infected the Redskins, spread elsewhere in the NFL East?

Don't worry Eagles fans, it can't get as bad as having Dangerous Dan own your team. Does anyone want to trade owners?
It took me a while to dig up this long dormant thread. But I have to gloat, something that's not been possible since February 1992. I see (above) that I didn't dare make a prediction, because I fully expected them to stink.

Tonight:
Washington 38
Philadelphia 24
With one game remaining, Washington is 8-7 and has clinched the NFC East Division. Yes, they'll probably be eliminated in the first round of the playoffs, but that's not the point. Since 1992 Washington has been among the worst teams in football.

In the past 7 seasons, they finished last in their division 6 times. Yes, they won it in 2012, but that was an aberration, they didn't really earn it.

In the last 2 seasons, they won a total of 7 games. No one predicted they could win as many as 8 games this year. I would have been happy with 5 wins, and no one predicted they might win their division.

Hope this one saved his money.
Yes I also hope Griffin saved his money, because I wonder if he has any future in the NFL. He is likely to be let go during the off season. If I remember, he received a large signing bonus, and may have made more than the standard rookie contract. He also made money from advertising deals. If another team picks him up, it will be as a backup quarterback. But that will only be if he has really recovered from all his prior injuries.

I never disliked him, but his playing ability was over rated. After his knee injuries, he never regained the speed that made him successful as a college player. Apparently in college he played with only a small playbook that allowed him room to improvise on the field. He never had showed the discipline required of a pocket quarterback playing against NFL defenses. His success during his rookie year, 2012, came entirely because the defenses hadn’t adjusted to his running style, allowing Washington to win 7 straight games as that season came to an end. It was only a matter of time before that ended. Even before his injuries occurred, the teams Washington played showed they had figured out defensive solutions to neutralize Griffin. He played, on and off, for the next two seasons only because the stubborn and foolish owner of the team insisted on it – over the strong objections of his various coaches.

As Kurt Cousins developed as an up & coming quarterback during this season, Washington was filled with talk about whether he would get a big contract and stay in Washington. His rookie contract (at the standard rookie pay of $660,000) ends this year. I sincerely hope the team management has the sense to do whatever is needed to keep this young talented player in Washington – and also keep the present coach Jay Gruden. It’s also time to say goodbye to Griffin.

I’ve often joked that the only way Washington fans could get relief from the widely disliked team owner, Dangerous Dan Snyder, was through Alien Abduction. I notice that he has stayed far below the radar this season, no talking to the press or photos at all. Perhaps my wish has already happened while I was distracted by the sudden and unexpected appearance a football team in this town.

The Knee injuries destroyed him. You can normally bounce back from one knee injury, but he had two. Before he got hurt he was playing great, but you need your legs to throw and his never fully recovered.

He will have no problem finding a job he has a masters degree and is a hero in Waco. A lot of people see him becoming a politician after he finishes playing. Pretty sure he'd win if he ran for congress in Waco.

Those knee injuries did seem to affect his play in a major way. But were they truly career ending? The local opinion here has it that he tried to come back too soon. He hadn't fully healed or recovered. Maybe the best thing that could have happened to him was that he sat out for a year. He is clearly smart and resourceful – we'll see where that takes him next.

I could say lots about the differences between Waco and Washington, but I think I'll pass on that . This thread is about football.
