Soviet fighter?
Old habits…

Another old habit of the US Military/Industrial Complex is fostering the idea that their stuff (Russian or Chinese, formerly Soviet or Commie) is dangerously good, and our stuff is ineptly designed and overpriced. It rarely was true, but seemed to convince others that we are inept bumpkins.

It always worked when lobbying congress for more money.

i know plenty of people who have benefited from the F-35. I could benefit right now if I wanted too.;)

I thought I saw an article reporting on a mock dogfight between this and a good old-fashion F-16 and the latter came out on top. The F-16 may not have stealth capability, but it's still a great piece of hardware. The F-18 Hornet is also great, but had to make some design compromises in order to accommodate taking off and landing on an aircraft carrier.

ACA by the #'s is a net positive.
There is no way to substantiate that since it's being implemented in phases over a period of years:

Sorry to say, there is waste everywhere in our government.:(

The US Government Accountability Office (GAO) tested enrollment controls for fraud, out of 12 fraudulent test applications got benefits for 11.

The ACA's $2.1 Billion web site is most expensive in history has no fraud protection:

This is what I meant by HealthCARE. Millions of people are now covered instead of relying on the ER. Why the opposition? You offer no recourse! How about the Billions wasted when Republicans threw a tantrum about it, in the first place!? I brought it up because healthcare is a great example of where we go wrong in this country. You're not complaining about the cost of a stupid air plane, you're complaining about the cost of people getting CARE!

Seriously, I have no life.
I can't speak for all Americans.
I don't like either and none of us had any say in either, no vote.
...
That is what you get with a democratic republic. I don't think there ever was a pure democracy. But then, I am not a historian. ;)

One of the stated benefits with the ACA was that because more people were covered the federal gov't would be able to reduce payments to hospitals that covered the cost of the uninsured since obviously they were now insured. As Jinjuku pointed out in one of his earlier links, this leads to some amount of net savings to the federal gov't. Sounds good. So, are the hospitals happy or at least reasonably content with the new status quo? It doesn't seem so in NYC.

NYC hospitals still have to treat illegal aliens (undocumented, documented migrants, dreamers, whatever the politically correct word of the day is). They are not covered under the ACA. So, while the gov't on the one hand touts its fiscally sound and responsible numbers, the hospitals are facing a phaseout of federal funding which will cause them to draw on reserves and unless nothing is done, some measure of financial difficulties.

What's the solution?

I watched that documentary years ago when it was on PBS. I thought it was very interesting.

Really?
I could've sworn I said this:
Sorry to say, there is waste everywhere in our government.:(

And this:
I don't like either, none of us had any say in either, no vote.

Having worked in the defense industry, the outlook within the industry is the Russian stuff iss dangerously good but ours is better.
