Graduation today for the Seniors. Attendance is not only mandatory, but we have to work at the graduation as well. So I got to school at 6:30 and I'll be here until 8 or 9PM. FML

So instead of doing school work, I spent the last hour playing on REW trying to figure out the best placement for my subs in the new basement using the room modal analysis. Oh well, at least all we're doing today is the SOH and CAH in SOH CAH TOA.

Started working out about a month ago after not working out at all since the beginning of the school year, then took two weeks off because things picked up a little bit. Started working out again this week and my pants are fitting tighter, not looser. I'm just going to interpret that as that muscle pushing the perma-fat out. Yea, that must be it.

Also, Adam Nimoy has a kickstarter and is looking for funding to make a documentary about his Dad. A Spock Doc.

TLS is extremely knowledgeable, extraordinarily helpful, and without question an invaluable addition/resource to this community.

He's also about as stubborn and single minded as a dog in heat about his own designs/conclusions. There's definitely no point trying to give anybody advice in a thread he joins, or an alternate point of view at least.

Two weeks of school left. If it weren't for snow day's we'd have one week left. I basically dread going to work right now because it's like being trapped in a room for an hour and a half at a time with 30+ uncooperative, hyper cats and it's my job to heard them.

Plus there are no windows and the A/C is perpetually broken.

Considering how much I still have to learn, I am beyond thankful for his commentary, and rigid stance on his viewpoints. He's spent his life building speakers, so a firm guiding hand is a great thing to offer, even when some won't appreciate it.

I don't think you've been around here long enough to know he discounts perfectly viable options and alternatives at times due to his own biases. Furthermore, he's often called or not so indirectly implied that if some people were to entertain the idea of doing something instead of what he considers the best option, you're likely to get called an idiot or some variation of that. Common social etiquette dictates that you probably shouldn't do that. If that's what you want to call "feelings" and a "firm hand" then so be it. I'm a lifelong athlete whose had numerous coaches and is a coach/math teacher. I know the difference between a firm hand and condescension and I think I have a pretty good idea about the objectivity of science. As I said, invaluable resource yes, but he's not the be all end all and there are plenty of just as knowledgeable people to get advice and feedback from who have also spent much of their lives building and designing speakers. Who still build and design speakers and try new things.

I have yet to develop that opinion, but I've never built speakers. I just read some of his obviously wrong comments about the most mundane stuff and feel compelled to correct it before it steers someone in the wrong direction. For example, he told one guy that splitting an HDMI signal to two televisions would require professional equipment that cost more than the guy's house (unsurprisingly, he stated it with immense confidence and a rather wordy explanation). I offered the alternative of trying out a ~$20 HDMI splitter...which worked perfectly for the guy. He seems to be getting better (for as rarely as I read posts these days), but he certainly at least used to be stuck in thinking about how technology worked decades ago.

I think it was lsiberian and his wife who went out to visit Mark a couple summers ago and said he was a most gracious host and that his homebuilt/designed system was absolutely amazing. Both of which, I have no doubt. He really does know his stuff when it comes to building and designing a system.

That being said, once he's formed an opinion on something, changing it is like trying to move a mountain. I've also noticed that about some of his tech posts. Many times I've seen his HDMI posts involve a lengthy explanation of HDMI handshake issues (which there are many of) which require all that "stuff" to fix (supposedly). Honestly, I fixed an HDMI handshake issue with something small and cheap like you suggested. I have no idea why it works, but it does

Hasn't found anything. It's just a lot different than the last anti-virus I had. Plus it has an option for multi-device protection, wi-fi protection, USB something or other, and some other stuff. It also seems to run a lot lighter than the last anti-virus I had. Although the lack of finding anything leads me to believe that my months of no protection were perfectly fine.
