Does anyone know why a cop would shoot to death an unarmed person execution style? WTF?

If your going to shoot someone that is probably the easiest style, that is if they don't know they are going to be shot... When I was a kid a cop shot 4 of our friends 1.5 miles from our house {rural area, in no way a city}, 3 of them died and 1 lived... People do crazy things, just because they get a badge and issued firearm doesn't make them free of mental defect...
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette - Google News Archive Search happened in RI, not sure why its in a pittsburg paper... In all fareness in this instance they did strip him of his badge prior to the incident, but he was involved in a handful of incidents before they took him off... It was just a ticker till it happened, some don't even tick, you know? them are the worse kind....

Two things to say here.

1) There are three sides to every story: Yours, mine, and truth.

2) This is the kind of thread that leads to trouble here. I suggest it be closed.

Good lord! No wonder you have a distrust of police, I can not blame you. I do agree with mark the thread should be closed, nothing positive will come from it. There are people who generally trust authority and then there are those who don't, and never the twain shall meet.

I was 14 when that happened, DD who lived and who I am still friends with to this day {spoke with in 5 days ago} is a good guy, his cousins would have also been good productive people, but a cop took that away...

I trust authority for the most part, I have a STRONG head and will not bend for certain things and it has gotten me in trouble, I have the means to get myself clear, for the pople out there who do not, know the rite people or can not afford the BEST lawyers, they get choked to death when they stand up for themselves.... Obviously not everyone dies, and I have a lot of friends that are cops, some lifers very high on the food chain, and I know there are a lot of scumbags out there, and they have a hard job to do and don't get paid anywhere what I would charge to do it, BUT, it takes some tact and a special person to not take advantage of power, not everyone has it, and there is no super xray goggles that finds it for the guy handing out the badges, so with so many people in the world there are going to be some loose strings that get tied into the rope, and we are going to pay for it when it happens...

A wise old many told me when I was a kid, and he said it a bunch of times... "stand up for yourself, family, friends, and the people not able, no matter what the consequences, and you will sleep like a baby, NO MATTER WHAT THE CONSEQUENCES, compromise how you let people treat you and others because of fear of the consequences and you don't deserve to sleep" So for example you get stopped on the street, a cop checks you all out but starts trying to get a rise out of you, do you put your head down and take it, or ask for his badge number and explain to him you will be filing a report for his harassment, hes not going to want to hear that or be talked to like he is less than you {returning what he gave to you} so he is either going to just take it and give you his info welcoming you to file a complaint and tell you how to go about doing so, or he is going to take it personal and try to push you around.... He should stay calm and explain the situation to you, and he should either apologize or give you the info on how to put in a complaint, if you are not under arrest you should be let go and done with the situation, if you are under arrest you should comply to his orders and get taken in... No where in there should you be choked to death, lol.... That guy in NY wasn't even fighting, they handled it wrong imo and in the professional opinion too since they did punish those involved...

You are rite this isnt going to go anywhere good, lol...

I also dont trust bald eagles, I think they are trouble makers and push the entire USA bird thing around way too much.. just watch this video... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwTul9-HGu8 {I know these aren't usa eagles, lol, and I don't mind most of them, but the one that attacks the sloth, WTF could a sloth do wrong, they are awesome, I will have one some day...}

What information do you have that proves this is what happened?
The way a thread like this gets in trouble is when people make conclusions w/o benefit of all the facts, or when someone tries to take the discussion off into left field.

What FACTS do we know so far, relative to the incident in Missouri?

It's a tragedy that could have been prevented IMO. Really sad for everyone involved. We have tazers and plenty of non lethal options I don't understand why more police don't have those options.

I am pretty sure they have tasers, weren't they the state getting sued for tazing the father trying to go into the burning house his 3 yr old died in?

Who knows what to believe with this case, I am sure the guys weren't model citizens, but someone puts their hands up, you shouldn't shoot them... We don't know all the info and probably never will... But with I know that with all the law suits popping up, having cameras on each cop wouldn't be a bad idea, for their safety too.... The cost is not much at all in comparison to the benefits... I think it would stop a lot of BS that goes on...

My friends son was stopped walking home from our house, with a bag full of his football gear, so helmet, cleats, shoulder pads, ect, its a good sized duffle... The cop says, "where are you going" he answers "home' the cop says "dont be a smart ass, where are you going" so he told us he thought the cop heard him say something different, like he didn't understand him so he repeated himself and said "home" the cop grabbed his bag away from him and cuffed the kid, 14 years old walking home from football practice.. Never asked what was in the bag... Then he searched the bag and searched the kid... 14 years old of course he has no i.d., so he asks him where he lives, then he follows the kid home with the kid walking, waits until he walks in the house and drives off, meanwhile the kid is balling his eyes out!!! He is kind of soft hearted, one of the kids on the team while a big kid, you have to talk him into hitting with everything he has because he goes easy on people.. Just a good boy, from a really good family, talking honor roll, football, went to ccd with my kids, volunteers at the fire house with my son, he is a well behaved kid afraid of his own shadow....
So my friend calls the police station demanding this officer return to his house, or he is calling the state police... So the cop comes back with his commanding officer and tells his side of the story, says there was a reported b and e and he seen a "guy" walking down the street, then the kid was acting suspicious {scared out of his mind}, so he cuffed him while he searched the bag... He didn't notice he was crying until he went to question him further, then seen the tears and could tell he was very young...

So my friend Terry who is the father flipped out, screaming and yelling, which is what I would have done, picture your son who you move to a very expensive neighborhood getting cuffed to crying and shaking like a leaf by the time he gets home because some 25 year old cop wanted to yell at him for walking home.... So to get to the end of the story, the cap was made to apologize to him and his son, and they filed an agreement that this cop couldn't come near his family, he got put on a detail far away from our neighborhood....

BUT now if this happened to some inner city kid that may or may not be a good boy, who is there to stick up for him? And who will listen? I see an issue here, and I am in the camp that believes crime follows poverty not race or anything else, all people can be good and all people can be bad.. I know people that live in poverty and are very "stand up" wonderfull good people honest and giving even though they don't have enough for themselves, and I know people with tons of money that are thieves and take advantage of everything they can, but I do see much more crime in poverty stricken areas, and I see much more situations like this where the cops have done something wrong... Its a hard ball to catch you just don't know what someone is going to do... You see something happen and think, "what were they thinking" but we don't know....

We need law and order, with that comes trusting a good amount of authority with people that are willing to take the risks that come along with it, you are going to get some guys that don't make the rite decisions here and there...

No facts... just unrelated and unsubstantiated anecdotes... and weak attempts to imply some kind of analogy.
So, 3db, since it seems nobody on this forum was there, or is closely involved with the investigation, we cannot answer your topic question.
And it appears the only ones taking the bait of your second question, are already in your camp. Sorry.

Wow! Sorry to hear that. To be a kid and having to face something like that.

That's the real sad part, negative events that happen to us at a young age.
As children, we don't yet have the ability to logically and fairly understand things. Bad events just hurt, and really alter a young impressionable mind.

I trust authority for the most part, I have a STRONG head and will not bend for certain things and it has gotten me in trouble,
That was a big childhood trauma to live through.
With all due respect, I have an impression (right or wrong) you don't really have a warm fuzzy for authority figures.
Due to that event as a child.
Apologizing in advance for sounding like a counselor. :D

I don't have proof. Just news reports and we all know how biased those can be. News is there for one thing; achieve revenue growth for the networks... not to promote the truth.

There is A LOT going on with this subject. To not discuss it is a shame..if we can do it intelligently.

Long gone is any news outlet that is going to wait an entire several days to get an accurate story to report, so we're really going off frustrating iterations.

Now they have surveillance footage showing Michael Brown not looking like the 100% warm and fuzzy kid on his way to college, but instead a 6’4, 290 pound dude muscling a tiny convenience store owner in a petty robbery and stealing Swisha Sweets.

What seems to immediately happen in these things is emotions take over and instead of discussion. Here is an opportunity to talk about things like the militarization of police forces, inequality in the justice system, police training (how can we protect cities better), crime-prevention (how do we make it so kids don't turn out like Michael Brown and rob people), and.. a lead in... but, what about mass incarceration? America holds 25% of the people in prison in industrialized countries. Most for non-violent crime, overwhelmingly black.

I'll wait until the facts actually come, but based on the information so far from all sides, it seems like this is something that could have been avoided.

I see this as more of a Chicken or Egg scenario.

The only reason police exist is because people suck.
People don't treat others the way they want to be treated.
Police and prisons shouldn't exist; they do because people don't behave.

The only reason police exist is because people suck.
That, and because people often don't want to (or can't) do what the police have to do when other people suck. Well, or it's best they don't. :) People often don't have a good perspective on "proportional response."

"Why the eff did you set that guy on fire?!?"

"His stereo was too loud."

Here's the thing with me and authority {police in general}, some of the guys are awesome, and some have something to prove or a chip on their shoulder... I like the idea of a camera on ever officer or at least constant audio, because I honestly think it is an issue, friends of ours that are police officers say the same thing, some of the guys "on the job" shouldn't be... These guys have to be held responsible, if they cross the line from public servant being paid to serve and protect to criminal or in anyway "pushing around their weight"...

We have a real issue here in our area, for example some of the local guys will remember this.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rReKf0tDvOM , sure the women is drunk and dissordly, but shes sitting on her cuffed hands on the ground, no real threat to the officer and he busts her face open with a snap kick.... If there was no camera rolling this would have never gone to court!!! Now if that was my wife I would be in jail for taking most of them guys apart, her husband just kind of stood there, I know I would have jumped on that guy with out a frist thought never mind a second thought it would have been instinct I would have just attacked him, I remember when I first watched the video I jumped in my chair.. Who kicks a women in the face?

Now don't get me wrong, we need police, and maybe .1% of them are douches, but there has to be a real consequence for acting unprofessional because when they do it people die... You can easily kill a women by kicking her in the head, my wife is 120lbs soaking wet if a man ever kicked her in the head she would be seriously injured and he would be shortly after, cop or not, I would have sunk my teeth into his face...
