Denon AVR-4520ci has arrived and is installed.

I read it at Chapters this morning. Yes the measured outputs look almost exactly the same as those for the 4XXX and 3XXX.

Power Output @ 1% THD 2CH 8 ohms/ 2CH 4 ohms/ 5CH 8 ohms:

Pretty good.

Except that does not tell the whole story. From the AH review measurements:

Although the SC-07 didn't fare well on the bench when tested with 4-ohm loads, it proved to hold up quite well on real world 4-ohm speaker systems driving musical content instead of continuous test tones and only gave up some of its composure as the volume levels were increased. As a result, I'd cautiously recommend using this receiver with highly efficient 4-ohm speakers. With some component tweaks and upgrades, I believe the ICE module could be a worthy contender against traditional linear amplifiers implemented in similarly priced receivers and could also be advantageous in higher power delivery due to its greater efficiency. However, as implemented in this design, it's not quite there yet.

I would consider it a top performer. Below is a quick comparison of some of the measurements between the Denon, Marantz AVR and Marantz separates, all from S&V/HTM website.

The Denon has poorer cross talk numbers than some of its predecessors but still good considering it packs 11 channels of preamp and 9 channels of power amp in one box.

The Denon amazingly has lower THD+N even though the numbers are from CD input to speaker output whereas the high numbers for the Marantz is just for the preamp.

The Marantz has better SNR but again, its just for the preamp. The Marantz AVR-7008 cross talk numbers are not as good as the AVR-4520. I think the Denon's owners should be confident that their AVR, when use as a prepro, would likely be audibly as good as its Marantz counterpart, separate or AVR.</o
