I got my new XPA-2 in today from UPS... When I saw the driver dragging it off the truck I had to say something smart to him.. How can an Amplifier go through a shipping war and not get damaged? Thank heaven when I hooked it up it worked.. Just remember..this was double boxed with foam around it. You could see the amp inside before the tape was even cut.
Needles to say if it ever needs shipping again the box may need to be replaced..

I guess the insides of Amps are a little more robust than we think.

Carton had moisture damage...
Sometime during the shipping process the carton was exposed directly, most likely rain...
Should have rejected the shipment..

Just my $0.05... ;)

Not sure that would help. What if I wasn't here when they dropped off. I would have the same procedure...To let Emo know. It was pouring rain here all day. Box was completely dry. Just very rough handling.. I see boxes like this all the time since I am in the shipping/rec business.. Everything seems to be fine. Emotiva does recommend letting them know if the box was damaged. I will send them a heads up on it.

FedEx and UPS both accept heavier packages than their people can reasonably handle. Both companies also consider damage just a cost of increasing capacity, a financial trade-off, so package safety is not really a concern of theirs. Heavy amps should be shipped as freight.

I hear you on that. To be honest, I see so much more damage on Fedex than UPS.. But. Truck freight is very expensive.

Funny because some ID manufacturers swear the opposite. They're not exactly sending small light boxes either. Interesting on how the perspective is different.

All I know is that I've seen UPS and FedEx drivers literally heave through the air boxes that clearly said fragile. :D

Hey, Do you guys think the Amp is Ok if it powered up and the staus lights are working? I wont be able to hook everything up until Saturday to listen to it. I'm guessing it's ok.

If it works, yes.
If not, no.

It's one of those things that you really aren't going to know until you try. I'd be worried as you are, but it seems like Emo has good packaging so they know that shipping has their issues.

Over 12 hours later, and no one else has commented on this random post? :p

Well, or maybe I'm just missing the obvious connection.

You can't win for losing sometimes. I tried to get you to go to Guitar Center :D

But seriously, I would have had them put it back on the truck. Amazon has a specific feature where they ask for just the packaging feedback. They are very sensitive to that. Since they mainly ship everything (outside of digital delivery) packaging has to be as 100% as possible. It's their bread and butter.

I know this... But remember this amp was replaced at NO CHARGE... So I will take that over spending money on another amp.. In any case if I have issues, I will most certainly talk a drive down to GC... In fact I did check the local in stock of the Crown and Yamaha and they didn't stock them.. I would have had to order them... You did good and I learned something. At least it's in my knowledge base now for future purchase.

I was just giving you a hard time on that.

Does No Charge = Getting what you initially paid for? I liked the XPA-3 I had for 3 days. I was able to compare it to a NAD 272 on PSB's flagship speaker: Synchrony 1's. It acquitted itself rather well vs what is considered an industry stalwart.

The XPA-2 is linear and flat. I have never figured out people that think its bright other than the other amp they compared to has a messed up top end (down .5 to 1.5 dB).

That's such a great amazon feature. I've filled that out about poor packaging before and ordered similar items a few months later, to find that they'd completely changed how they were shipping those items. I've also purchased items that have had major complaints about the packaging to find that they indeed fixed it.

Is that your original box that they shipped it back in? It looks like its been around the world:D

Emotiva should strap their boxes.
I got one that I'd swear they dropped while taking it out of the Fedx truck, while in my driveway.
The XPA-2 is front heavy. Kind of deceiving. I pictured the driver sliding it along the truck floor by the two handholds and as it comes off the back the weight just flips it out of their hands.
The front corner had a dent.

Wow, who do you blame, Emo or the carrier. I have been considering Emo amps, but I hear reviews going both ways. ematthews, whats your opinion on Emo, I see you're no stranger to the brand. Although this might be a bad time to ask. Feel bad for ya on the last one, hope it works out. Thanks in advance for your insight.

The carrier since they wouldn't or shouldn't accept a box in that condition for shipping.
