ive only seen some reviews on amazon about their subs. the eurolive seem to have pretty good ratings. av shop also has alto. they seem pretty good too. http://www.avshop.ca/sound-amp-pa-audio/speakers/powered-subwoofers?sort=3a
I dunno. I haven't heard anything about them and I've been on this forum almost a year...

Another thing I noticed is there are no meaningful specs posted about it (+/-3db or even a frequency response at all). It's a pro sub, not typically what you'd see in a home, but lots of folks do use pro gear. You're gonna have to wait for some more replies. I don't know enough about it to really comment.

That's a nice little package you scraped together. I still wanna try one of those amps. I vaguely remember talking to you about it a while back. Solid, cheap, clean power?
Fantastic SQ for a cheap amp I was way beyond shocked. Telling you Asian stuff is so beyond good these days especially price wise.

I'd like to try out something like a 2 x 200W @8 ohm amp to power my mains (SVS Ultra Bookshelf). If it's pocket change I'll give it a go.

...or maybe even the rokits themselves? i can get the 5inchs for 209 cad on amazon.
Correction 209 cad for 5" a SINGLE RockIt speaker. a Pair will run you over your budget by 18 cad.
Here are few good subs at your budget:

I would go with what I suggested. The sq quality is beyond and more. I would know I have the same setup and I wouldn't even turn it up more than half the volume. Get loud and the bass pounds. For a budget setup fantastic. In a apt you really can't put the volume too high anyways. If a house you can even throw a party cause that amp goes loud.

This is not home theater sub, it's meants for live sound or DJs in smaller gigs. it is rated -10db at 45hz, which makes it's mid-bass module at best, not a sub at all.

If you are interested in larger desktop speakers with decent bass, these may fit your needs:

here's the review:

For real subs, looks like I shared earlier. JM Labs especially with 13" driver seems very interesting, thou it's older model

those look mighty fine. better then what i got now... which are these!https://www.thesource.ca/en-ca/computers-and-tablets/computer-accessories/computer-speakers/headrush-2-1-multimedia-speaker-system-with-wired-volume-control/p/108019448

would you choose them over the rokits?

these are amazons bestsellers. if i get monitors id still need a sub though. which will be easier to save for having good speakersXD

I would. Those have 8" woofers on them so you'll get some decent bass. I'd say better than what you have now by far.

I heard several RockIt speakers and was never impressed by their bloated and overly emphasized bass. Probably good if you exclusively listen to hiphop.
I never heard 2031As, but I trust that guy's review (no audiophile) and especially after his few pretty simple mods - these are really fine speakers.
If your budget would be larger I'd recommend going with JBL LSR308's as safer choice, but they are out of your budget.

I am not familiar with Headrush, but from their looks, my educated guess would be place them in total junk category.

Behringer is German company which manufactures exclusively in China. Most of their design are "borrowed" from more expensive companies such as Genelec, Gemini, Adam and etc.. but if copy is really good, would you care?

also these behringers save me almost 100 bucks https://www.amazon.ca/High-Resolution-Active-Reference-Studio-Monitor/dp/B000Q6EHA2/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1497222982&sr=8-7&keywords=behringer+monitor

Both of them are fine speakers, but both have only 5" woofers. Not as much bass as from 8" woofer on 2031a.
To be fully honest, i have older model of lsr305, the lsr2325p and only time I have noticed that the bass isn't right, it was when i played cannon shots of Tchaikovski's 1812 overture.

ah fair enough. i think 5 inch is too small for my wants. would one of these speakers put me over till i get the extra for the next speaker? which sub would go good with those behringers? amazon only has one in stock right now anywaysXD
