There are deep gouges about 3/4" down around the edge of all of my rims. I can't believe that they didn't see this when they were putting the tires on. And to just send me on my way hoping I wouldn't notice really irks me. I took the car to a nearby America's Tire to show them the damage and they say that the tire shop didn't use the correct spacer and that the "duck head" of the tire install machine caused the damage. I'm sooo pissed off! You spend hella time and money keeping your car looking nice and some dumb *** grease monkey goes and screws it all up! My rims aren't made anymore so I can't get another set. I don't know if they can be fixed.

Sorry to see that Darien. Let us know how things work out.

They're actually being cool about it. At first they wanted me to take my car to a local rim repair shop, but then they told me there are mobile repair companies that would come to me. They're trying to arrange something now. I'll let you know how it goes.

The tires are awesome though, Goodyear Eagle GT's, 245-45-19's. Nice and grippy but quiet.

That's why I go to my buddy's shop for tires only. They have a "no touch" machine, plus he just wouldn't do something retarded like that. America's Tire scratched my rims on my brand new car when I got a nail in a tire. I complained and they had it refinished free of charge.

So I went to a local rim repair shop for an estimate and they want $800!!! Add that to the rental car they will need to pay for and it's probably cheaper to just buy a new set of rims.

Was it Wheel Techniques? I think my repair ended up being around $300, but they basically just refinished it. Hell, you could get them powder coated for less than half that (but you'd need spare rims). I posted mine when I had them done.

If they damaged the rims then they should cover it for you.

Yep.

I ended up putting spacers on my wheels because they wouldn't clear the calipers when I put the Shelby Brembo's on the front. Ever since most tire places don't want to touch my car. This may be my chance to get wheels with the correct offset and not have to use spacers anymore.

So even more good news.

Ever since doing the camber kit, I've noticed a "clunk" every time I hit a bump on city streets. Don't really hear it on the freeway though. Took it back to the same shop and they're telling me I've got a bad ball joint or tie rod end. Sounds like a hell of a coincidence, but it is possible that the stock rubber isolator on the strut mount was masking the sound. The Maximum Motorsports mount uses a spherical bushing. The car does have 120,000 miles on it.

Lame.

Hm, I forgot about the spacers. Even though there is technically not anything wrong with properly designed spacers, I still don't like the idea. I'd definitely opt for rims that clear the brakes with the correct offset if they're willing to do that.

:D

Nice string there too...lol. And that image was from C&D.

So I ended up buying a set of American Muscle 2010 Shelby GT rims. They'll be here on Friday. Now I just need to find someone to swap the tires for cheap. America's Tire wants $150.

I put EBC slotted and dimpled rotors on the front this weekend to match the rears I did a while ago. I also put on some EBC ceramic race pads.

Let me know. My buddy in Milpitas can most likely do it for less than that.

Thanks for the number John. The guy is about $30 cheaper than America's Tire. I'll probably take it over to him tomorrow.
