All right. For almost as long as I've had my 07 Mustang, I've been wanting to replace my rear bumper with the one that comes on the Shelby and GT CA Special versions.

It's basically the same as the stock GT piece but it has a cool black textured area at the bottom with air splitters. I've wanted to make the swap for a while now, but I never had the money to do it. Well about a month ago, I was eating dinner at Boston Market when I hear my car alarm go off. So I go out to my car and there's a shmuck with a mini-van right behind my car. Apparently he didn't know the length of his vehicle and ended up backing into my car.

At first I was kind of pissed, but what are you gonna do? It's not like the guy did it on purpose and my car was still driveable. This kind of stuff is why we pay for insurance right? Then it dawned on me, upgrade bumper time!!! So I got my body shop to replace my stock bumper with the Shelby one.

I also really like the CDC classic chin spoiler.

And I thought that the Shelby bumper with its black textured bottom would be the perfect match to the CDC spolier. So as long as I was at it, I decided I would do this at the same time. So I bought one and gave it to the body shop.

So I got the car back yesterday and the bumper and chin spoiler look great. Unfortunately it's been hella stormy here all week, so I can't get outside to take some "after" pics. But I will as soon as the weather clears.

I don't know if it's me, but I swear the stripes on the bumper look kinda crooked. Half the people I show it to say it looks crooked and half say it doesn't. I may have to take the car back.

I also just had the rear brakes done and replaced the rotors with EBC slotted and dimpled rotors. I'll snap some pics of those too.

Hey man, whenever you're back in the SD area I'd do a shoot with your car and my MARAUDER. I'm always looking for an excuse to do a photoshoot.

I need to find some locals that would pose for us though, I haven't been here very long so I'm still shopping. ;)

I had a base hardtop 1998 Camaro a while back and did some improvements to better suit it for the reason I purchased it:

Lightweight Kirkey aluminum racing seats (8lbs) with Autopower 4-point rollbar to provide seat mounting and driver restraint and safety. Was able to get the driver seating position absolutely perfect...felt absolutely great behind the wheel once you contorted yourself getting in.

Adjustable hollow control arms and Panhard bar with spherical bearings, Koni Sport dampers (with stock springs) and Hotchkiss Sport Hollow Antirollbar setup, along with a strengthened rear diff cover that you could actually drain by removing a plug instead of unbolting the whole cover...

The Hurst Shifter kit made a huge improvement as well - stock unit was just horrible to get into gear and vague feeling...

It was a very nice handling car with the proper changes (equally adept at autocross and track days), but a pain to work on and consumables were just too expensive for a track car... $200 for brake pads and $700 for tires that will last a little over 3 weekends. I really liked how it handled (phenomenal brakes with upgraded pads and R-compound tires, and rotated and cornered very neutral dry or wet) but everything else I could do without...was not too sad when she sold. I really don't like heavy cars...and that car was just way too heavy.

I much prefer 1,000lb lighter and quicker responding cars, specifically this one:

Parts and consumables are easily available and relatively inexpensive, and the handling is out of this world... gives no ground to a Corvette Z06 or a Lotus Elise in the corners.

Unfortunately I don't get home too often anymore. But with the success of the SDSU basketball team, I may come home to take in a game.

Where in SD are you living? I grew up in Scripps Ranch, but my mother lives in El Cajon now and my Dad's up in Vista.

Here's my baby.

Nice car. My last Stang was a 95. I can't believe I can't find pics of her lying around.

But you're running a blower with stock brakes, are you nuts!?!?!? I put Bullitt brakes on my 95 and it made a big difference. I've got the Shelby fronts on my 07 and it wasn't as much of a difference as the new Mustangs are heavy as a brick, but it's still noticeable.

I upgraded my brakes to the 99+ with their dual pistons compared to the single my 97 had.

My 96 Cobra. Hopefully this summer I will be pulling out the engine and building making it a 5.0 stroker.

Thanks man. Yea, verts do add a little to the driving "fun factor".
I always thought more is better? I think my issue is I like working on it more than having it finished. I think I can reach 500rwhp if I do the 5.0 kit and 12 lbs pulley. Right now it running 7 lbs and 410 at the wheels.

So it finally stopped raining and the weatherman said we're going to have a whole week of nice weather. So out came the car wash and wax and stuff!!

Here's close-up of the new bumper.

While driving around trying to find a cool place to take pics, I stumbled across a ranch with horses! What better place to photograph a Pony than with other Ponies!?!

Here's a close-up of the new rear rotors. I'll do the fronts when it's time to do the front brakes.

Here's the front without the chin spoiler.

And here's the front with the chin spoiler.

The only thing that sucks is that now I have to be careful where I park cuz the front is so low that it will hit those parking lot bumer things. I also have to be careful on steep driveways. I had to park on the street when we went to the in-laws in South SF last night.
