Marantz SR 7009 upgrade or not?

Thanks for the replies. Having realized that the "newer" model doesn't always mean better, I'll be keeping the 7009 for a bit. The XT32, of course, is important. I was thinking the newer features, but I've been happy without them so far. dtsX, heos, 8K et al. Pass. And thanks again lads.

Marantz SR 7009 upgrade or not?

I have a 7–8-year-old SR 7009 9.2 channel AVR that I can sell. Would it be worth paying $260.00 difference for a SR 5015 with the new features it has? I only run a 7.2 setup. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Marantz SR5012 Powers Off Almost Instantly after Starting

Thanks PENG. Problem was that it never stayed powered up long enough to access resets/or other options modes. Eventually, I located an authorized repair center here in Thailand (Bangkok), talked to them and they thought it may be a power supply issue as well. Overnight shipping for the 16kg.cost...

Marantz SR5012 Powers Off Almost Instantly after Starting

Seems that I have a similiar problem with me 6-7 year old Marantz 7009. All of a sudden it stopped functioning by stating that there was a communication error and switched back to the tv speakers. Speaker wires have been disconnected, HDMI cable changed as well, but the reciever don't stay on...

Large room multi sub advice needed

My decision now if between a pair of the SVS SB13's or the ML Dynamo 1500's SVS: Quizzing SVS they recommended the above SB13's flanking the mains, inboard. US pricing being at $1600.00 The distributor here opened with a price of only $1657.00. After some haggling, he's offering up a "package"...

Yes indeed, the Phil 3's see, amazing, the cabinets look beautiful and the pricing decent. Unfortunately, they're not available here in Thailand

Large room multi sub advice needed

Glad you like them. I'm looking at the smaller SB13's due to aesthetics in the room and I'm sure 2 will be enough.

Large room multi sub advice needed

I agree with that philosophy about any item I buy, but even more so in this instance. I appreciate your chiming in Isiberian and acknowledge your wisdom, always have. I'm looking at a pair of the sealed SVS13's: 13.5", 1000/3600W, 92# and a 5 yr. parts warranty vs. the Martin Logan Dynamo...

Large room multi sub advice needed

"techno-babble".........I like that. I think that 2-SVS 13 Ultras would be enough, given the MLP as suggested by SVS. I doubt very seriously I'd be adding more than that but have saved your post for review should I ever change my mind. Thanks again. What that in mind, I've been all over TX...

Large room multi sub advice needed

Thanks, Quite a mouthful and multiple reads have been necessary. In talking with SVS, they recommended using two SB13U's on the front stage flanking the mains, inboard. That's it. Nothing beyond that. A comparable option would be the ML Dynamo 1500. Given the 10,000 ft^3 room, no in-home...

Large room multi sub advice needed

After looking at the specs./reviews and bang for the buck I agree, and will go with something from the SVS line. I've since been in touch with Ed at SVS on their FAQ site and he's suggested a pair of SB13's where the small cabinets are. I was going to remove them anyway so that's not an issue...

    Thai concrete house...speaker advise please

Just wanted to say thanks to you and SKi for the assist and give you an update. I ended up with a Marantz SR7009 9.2 with Focal 936 mains their bigger center and 906 surrounds. Mainly due to the auditioning and discounted price. Also found a rug supplier in BKK (had 4 pieces glued up to be 4.6m...

Large room multi sub advice needed

After the setup of some new gear, it’s time to add the sub(s) and I was hoping to get some thoughts here. Being in Thailand, selections are limited but what is available isn’t so far off US prices. There are no in-home auditioning, no exchanges and warrantees are limited to 1 year, so I need...

Surround speaker distances… help needed please….

Thanks herbu, The right side is easy to deal with as I can put it anywhere along that side. Remove the baseboard, insert and reinstall. It's the left side that's the issue. In theory I could do the same thing. Remove baseboard and door trim to get to the 80 degree location but at the greater...

    12,000 ft./3 room. Multi-sub help needed please

Shady, Being tiled floors and concrete walls the house already has acoustical issues (slap echo) that I hoped to deal with after the install. Room nulls, summations and cancellations are pretty much greek to me and the more I read the more my head spins. I've read a lot, and watched enough...

    12,000 ft./3 room. Multi-sub help needed please

I’ve read Gene’s sticky on “Home Theater Multiple Subwoofer Set-Up & Calibration Guide” (and others) and have watched numerous video's provided by them, but what really determines the need for multiple subs? Is it the need for BASS or am I correct in assuming it's based on room size, or both...
