    Black letterbox bars/Oppo 103

I just wonder how the tv/cable channels do it, present movies in 16:9 format, appearing uncut but with no bars? And what do they do it with?

    Black letterbox bars/Oppo 103

Sorry Adam and jgarcia, in looking further, there is a Sidecut Zoom option on the Panny that doesn't distort, just cuts off the sides of the video. Now, just to figure out what I want to live without, the sides or black bars bottom and top.

    Black letterbox bars/Oppo 103

Thanks j_garcia, could you point me to this option on the current lcd panny's? I don't think I'd mind cutting some side material as much as the distorted image its Zoom/Just option appears to give.

    Black letterbox bars/Oppo 103

Thanks a bunch Adam! It appears that by the Oppo 103 owner's manual pgs 32... that the Oppo does do a Full Screen zoom, which cuts off some of the very top and bottom of the material, but doesn't appear to do a house of mirrors stretch on the video. I think I could be interested in having...

    Black letterbox bars/Oppo 103

Are there ways to get rid of black letterbox bars without Zooming the picture? On my new TV, the picture doesn't look right when zooming. Thanks in advance for all your help. It is just frustrating, in this day and age, with no tvs being sold now that aren't widescreen, to still have black...

    Budget TV?

Okay, actually got the Panasonic TC-L50E60 50 inch led. Shipped from Amazon warehouse by Fedex on it's side, even though box said not too. Fedex guy said he had no way of making sure it didn't fall over. It appears to be in fine working condition. I haven't calibrated it yet, have never...

    Budget TV?

Okay, after too much time and energy put into getting the best tv for money considering pq and around $1200 or less... I've ordered a panny tc-L55et60. Not a plasma, although I was pretty sure the ST60 was my choice up until recently. After seeing them in store, appearing considerably dimmer...

    Budget TV?

Thanks BSA. I noticed the Panasonic TC-P60S60 you mentioned on the camel watch site. I would definitely consider it, however, some of the recent amaz reviews say is very reflective and that is has an unhelpful automatic brightness control that sounds possibly problematic in a room with much light.

    Budget TV?

Looking to get a 60" in a month or so, once I sell some cornets. All here have given good advice in the past, thanks! I'm looking for best px in the $750.00-$850.00 range. I do have some sliding glass doors covered by shades in the room, but I'd say most of our viewing is afternoon/evening...

    3.1 Setup

Had a problem with bass sounding untight, waffly at times, over-reaching. After resetting the Marantz' microprocessor, it appears my untight bass problems may be solved. When I tried to connect my son's Nexus 7 to the Marantz, it kind of froze, wouldn't connect, also wouldn't allow me to make...

    The Crown XLS DriveCore Thread

Thanks jinjuku and Nestor. It was frustating for a bit, kind of lucked into the resetting after the Nexus prompted me. I just kept thinking surely a up to date av receiver in this price range would have more sound adjustment options. I'm very happy with the folded horn table tuba now. Hope...

After resetting the Marantz' microprocessor, it appears my untight bass problems may be solved. When I tried to connect my son's Nexus 7 to the Marantz, it kind of froze, wouldn't connect, also wouldn't allow me to make any changes to any settings or go to a menu, at least any displayed on my...

    Sonosub vs Folded Horn

Thanks Natrix, that seems to work. although now I'm thinking of trying an amp that has DSP/EQ to try to tighten up a bit, see my posts on the Crown drivecore thread. Here are some px from my first ever speaker build...

    The Crown XLS DriveCore Thread

Also, I wondered if adjusting the bass tone from my Marantz sr5007 av receiver might help tighten things up. There appears to be an option on the Marantz menu for Tone, but it is locked, it won't let me access it. I got the Marantz recently, still learning it some. Some have commented that...

    The Crown XLS DriveCore Thread

Hey, I got the Crown 1000 drivecore to power DIY Table Tuba sub, hope to be 2 subs soon. It seems to be not quite tight, I seem to hear a little extra lower or higher boomier sounds at times. I know placement at times can be problematic. I haven't done a sub crawl or moved it much, as the...

    Sonosub vs Folded Horn

Hello and greetings. I've completed my first Table Tuba sub build from bfm. I'm planning to build another one, have the driver for it already. However, the Crown Drivecore XLS 1000 I bought to power them both appears not to be matching up or playing nice with my Marantz SR5007 AV receiver...
