I have the 650 & it's very good reciver,also it has 7.1 channels i don't know if the Onkyo have that, also if ur speakers are worm/flat u should go with the Yamaha coz it's very detailed that it may be a little bit harsh to some people if used with bright speakers.

I already have a new Yamaha RXV650 for surround & stereo sound & i have an old KenWood dolbyDigital reciver, a friend of mine want to exchange my kenwood with his Pio 7500S,the pioneer is alot older than my KenWood but he says it weights 30KG's & have a power consumption of 800W so it must have...

"AZ B" no dude,he will get for every speaker 110w for HF & 110w for LF,if u read the manual u will find pioneer mentioning it as biamping for the front speakers in which it puts the power of the surroundback channels to the front channels.

ur pioneer can biamp the speakers if u have biampable speakers,u can do this by connecting the fronts to the "HighFreq" & by connecting the surround back channels (6 & 7th channels) to the "LowFreq".

I also recommend going with the 650 coz it's huge improvment over the 550, Auto setup Pure DIrect mode Better & heavier power supply 7.1 channels

Get the 650 dude it also has the PureDirectMode while the 550 doesn't have it. i have a 650 & i like it very much.

But don't forget that the 2500/1500/750 have the GREAT PureDirectMode while the 2400/1400 doesn't have,also the 750 is technically(using newer chips inside) newer than the 2400/1400.

Nvidia SoundStorm can output 5.1 DolbyDigital sound through an optical cable,coz it have the abailty to decode DolbyDigital5.1

I have the RXV650 & it's very good,using it with 5.1 or 7.1 it will be great i tried both & they work well also if u use only 5.1 u will loose nothing coz the data for the surroundback channels will be sent to the surround channels instead.also the Pure Direct Mode for stereo is great.

My amp also (Yamaha RXV650) run hot while not in use & only powered on.

i forget to mention that frankly it doesn't do any harm coz i don't listen at those levels by anyway but it was bothering me to think that my amp is damaged or broken i also have a gurantee & can return it back to be fixed but after what i read i think it has nothing to be fixed.

Thanx guys for help, no i don't hear it in my seting position using my normal levels of volume(from -20db to -10db),but from 0db to max volume it's very loud even if u r a feet away from the speakers.
