I think in terms of towers in the $500 - $1,000/pr range that is not DIY, the Infinity P360 series are the way to go.
They are accurate, which is the most important thing about speakers. You get pretty good soundstage and imaging, clear and detail resolution of vocals, pretty good highs, and pretty good bass down to 38Hz.
The Infinity C336s also seem quite excellent:
The C336’s listening-window response (a five-point average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal and vertical responses) measures
+2.22/–0.72 decibels from 200 hertz to 10 kilohertz.
Now compare that to the much more expensive B&W 803D:
The 803D's listening-window response (a five-point average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal and vertical responses) measures +1.90/
–3.68 decibels from 200 hertz to 10 kilohertz.
The Infinity C336 appears to be more accurate than the B&W 803D towers.
How the heck did that happen?
You may do better going DIY or spending > $1,000, but then the law of diminishing returns sets in.
