I think you should listen to them and then buy the one you like the most. With speakers, it is pretty worthless for some stranger to tell you that he or she likes one more than another. There is no such thing as a perfect speaker, and so it is a question of what virtues you require and what vices you can tolerate. Different people feel differently about which virtues and vices are important, so you should listen for yourself.

You need to try to listen and judge and chose - you would not like my answer anyway.
Good Luck!

The Infinity C336’s listening-window response (a five-point average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal and vertical responses) measures +2.22/–0.72 decibels from 200 hertz to 10 kilohertz.

That is very good measurement right there. It tells me they are very accurate speakers.

http://www.hometheater.com/content/infinity-classia-c336-speaker-system-ht-labs-measures

Of the 3, I would pick the Infinity C336.

Stereophile reviewed the Infinity P360s (new model is now P363), and the measurements on-axis and off-axis are very good and very accurate.

So I think the Infinity C336 and P363s are very good choices.

I can't even find any speaker measurements on the other 2 speakers you mentioned, so I wouldn't even touch those.:D

The Tri Trix is a DIY speaker.

If you're cool with going DIY, I recommend it, but perhaps you can consider other options with superior drivers.

thanx for all your responses;

granteed- i know tritrix is a DIY speaker. I just don't know how good it is? price point is very tempting + the positive reviews.

Deftechguy- out of the 3 u said go w/ the infinity's... does the inf trump the svs sts02 tower speaker? I wouldn't be able to read those graphs even if i wanted to.
Money is really not the issue, its the time. I can save the $ over time, but point me to the right direction so I can know how much to save for. Mythos 5 wouldn't be out of the equation...my budget was 300$-500$ for both, but over time i can double that budget if it means upping the sound/speaker quality considerably...

zieg- I'd like to hear your comments. I take everything in strides and value everyones opinion. The yamaha speakers, i picked those because i like yamahas. there's really no other explanation. the tritrix, cuzz it was cheap and relatively unknown and unconventional.

What was the budget? I quickly googled #1 and #2, both sold at Amazon, and after shipping on #1, and/or that I understand correctly that pricing is for one* speaker . . . you are already on the cusp of very nice (to most of us) speakers. Like the ER18s for $550/pr, or maybe even the humungous and very hard to build Statements at a few hundred more. Or maybe a Zaph build:

My budget as it stands is 500$ (w/ a lil wiggle room) for both speakers. I'm not made out of $, but am I wiser to wait, so that I can break out of the entry level speakers and go for a mid level speakers like the mythos 5/gem/or the sts02? if so, then which one?
-I'm doing a complete overhaul of my 10+yr old system, and Id rather wait and save, than be unsatisfied w/ my purchase 2-3yrs down the line.

A complete build like u guys suggested would probably be out of my league. I only thought the tritrix was do-able was because it comes w/ everything and the ease of the install...

Ah I see. Well the Er18 may be $50 over budget, but the closest resembling speaker that is pre-made and in fact by the same designers cost $4200 ;) :

There has been a flat pack kit thread over at AVS, and you might want to keep tabs there for the in between compromise of "kits". These for instance are only $24 a pair for the CNCd cabinetry!!

The TriTrix is a well received entry into the DIY world. You might ask this particular fellow for his opinion as he's built both this speaker as well as the Er18.

Well, the only part that would be difficult would be the woodworking. The outcome for something like the ER18 MTM would be exceptional IMO...

What speakers do you have now? The answers to your questions
would be subjective.

the speaker i have now is the lowly yamaha ns7390...mind you i was about 18 when i purchased this, but I haven't been happy w/ the quality of the sound for quite some time(5+yrs)...i luv it because it still works from all the abuse, but my taste for sq have gone higher, and now it just sounds like crap to me...
Plus the fact that i have some spending cash, and i've gotten to hear some of my friends home theater speakers, mythos5, martin logans, and it just wasn't fair...i've been meaning for this upgrade for the past 2 yrs, but if i have to wait another yr for that kind of caliber then so be it...

Good luck if you can wait - if not, then the Boston will out perform
those Yamaha's - The VR1 towers, and they are good.

I think in terms of towers in the $500 - $1,000/pr range that is not DIY, the Infinity P360 series are the way to go.

They are accurate, which is the most important thing about speakers. You get pretty good soundstage and imaging, clear and detail resolution of vocals, pretty good highs, and pretty good bass down to 38Hz.

The Infinity C336s also seem quite excellent:

The C336’s listening-window response (a five-point average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal and vertical responses) measures +2.22/–0.72 decibels from 200 hertz to 10 kilohertz.

Now compare that to the much more expensive B&W 803D:

The 803D's listening-window response (a five-point average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal and vertical responses) measures +1.90/–3.68 decibels from 200 hertz to 10 kilohertz.

The Infinity C336 appears to be more accurate than the B&W 803D towers.

How the heck did that happen?

You may do better going DIY or spending > $1,000, but then the law of diminishing returns sets in.
