Today it has definitely been Santana. Their old stuff is the best especially "Welcome". If you haven't heard it, it is worth a listen.

Forgot to add

Roy Harper's Folkjokeopus - Average acoustic guitar on the worst recordings ever but you still have to sit and listen because of the message. Incidently, the subject of the song on Led Zep III "Hats off to Roy (Harper)"

Don't forget that he also sang Pink Floyd's "Have A Cigar."

this is a hard one, being a moving target, so I must state that this list only reflects my favorites as of September 2006:

King Crimson
The Beatles
Yes
Genesis
tie between Rush (2112 through Signals) and Porcupine Tree (last 4 CDs)

Marillion is growing on me fast (both Fish and H eras), but I'm not familiar with enough of their work to list them as top 5 favorite... yet.

I couldn't possibly do only a top 5 on this one. There's just too much I like.

Rush
Yes
Tool
Spock's Beard
Dream Theater
Transatlantic
Pink Floyd
Queensryche
The Police
David Bowie
Tears For Fears
U2
Alice In Chains
Genesis
Depeche Mode
Duran Duran
The Moody Blues

It's quite an eclectic list, I know....
