In all honesty, what does straight mode do?

I just bought the 5760, and i've been fooling around with the different settings. Straight seems to play music in 2 channels, but movies in surround. Does straight just take whatever signal is being sent to the receiver? (IE dolby digital from a DVD?)

Yup, that's exactly what it does. Plays the signal as presented with no DSP processing at all.
