A4L, went up on prices. As soon as you get photos from your Yamaha insider of their new Aventage line send in text. :D
A4L price for Yamaha RXA-2A is on sale for $529.00, normally $649.00, which is still $50 LESS than 4 years ago. Maybe trying to clear out inventory for a new line from Yamaha? I haven't been up to speed on A/V news.

I've been browsing as I usually do, A4A refurbished of course, A4A was 749. Now 999.00. I did see A2A price though.

HI folks! I just finished reading this entire thread. A fun ride and I learned a lot.

I currently have an RX-A2080, which I love, but want to move from 5.2.4 to 7.2.4, which the A2080 won't do for me.

So what's the consensus on the A6A's and A8A's? Everyone still happy with them?

There's a lot to choose from to get to 7.2.4 between Denon, Onkyo, Marantz, etc. Although I've always only owned Yamahas and never had any issues with them, I want to be open minded and consider other options if anyone that has tried another brand has $0.02 to throw in.

I guess the big difference would be YPAO vs Audyssey/Dirac. I've always been fine with YPAO. I have REW and a UMIK and always adjust PEQ a bit after YPAO runs and haven't been disappointed. I've got several subs with DSP in the amps so I always just set those up myself using REW. I would also like to check out the new YPAO "low frequency" setting. Would I be missing out if I skipped Dirac again for this go-around?

Thanks!
Yamaha always made good reliable gear... and if you have good results with YPAO/REW then there isn't a great difference in processing terms with Dirac Live.

However, if you are looking at AVR's capable of running Dirac ART, and considering the functionality of Dirac ART, then a Yammy might not be an option.

Dirac ART seems to me to be a paradigm shift in terms of room correction/tuning... and I am waiting for its release on more economical hardware (other than Storm), before considering an AVR/AVP upgrade...

If ART is not a consideration for you, then go with the new Yammy's

So you already have the A2, but you’re eyeing the A4? :D

Forget about my A3080. :D
It's just something I do to pass time. My A2A is really all I need. Only 5.1 setup, can't do anything more with small room. I could have swapped my A2A for A1080 with my Son. I decided not to only because it's a little more future-proof.

I'm more into movies now, so 4K TV's are my thing now. I have been eyeing Sony's B7. My X90L just made a year old July 9th not one issue. Even if I had Yamaha flagship, couldn't really do much with it.

Upgraditis is just part of this hobby. Well, part of human nature.

Don’t need to upgrade the AVR or TV. But still want it anyway. :D

Unless Yamaha's new Aventage line is something of a must have, which I highly doubt. Like what else is there? I'm very satisfied with the setup I have now, performs well this little small room.

I just picked up Sony's 4k 800m player not that I needed it cause I wanted it. My 700m still performs very well things over 5 years old.

For guys like us who don't even care about room corrections, I guess all we need is manual PEQ, 4K video, and Atmos sound.

So you bought a backup Sony UHD 4K player because they will probably increase the prices of everything sooner or later. First world problems. ;) :D

We still have a number of DVDs so I may pick up another Sony 4K player as they seem to do best with old disks. I had a couple that would no longer load in a DVD player but played fine in the Sony. Much slimmer unit too.

Every time I see the word "DVD" I would have this great memory of a Christmas party we had at our house about 12 years ago. It was a big party; we had a bunch of relatives over.

After converting from DVD to BD collection, I had about 500 DVD movies. At this time, most of my relatives didn't even have Blu-Ray movies. Heck, most of them didn't even have a DVD collection. :D

So after dinner, I announced to everyone that I was giving away my collection of 500 DVD movies.

The DVD hunt that follows was memorable. :D

Damn...that's discouraging. They are pricing these units out of the reach of many people. And forget about seperates. The days of getting a flagship Yamaha AVR for 2k are long gone. I'm going to have to think long and hard on my next purchase when it's time.

Well, that's why some people get to know their dealers personally to help them navigate these turbulent waters. :D

Lol, I bet it was.

I try to buy only 4K UHD Blu-ray disc now, I do have over 50+. But since my 4K Blade Runner 2049 went dead on me, "disc rot" it was over 6 year's old and I did play it to many times. But since it went dead I haven't bought one 4K move disc again.

And on top of that, my Sony 700m 4K player would freeze up on GOT, S8 E3 1st disc. I thought it was the player, tried several other brand 4K disc players did the same thing come to find out was a defective disc. That Sony 700m 4K player has been solid, close to 7 year's old now.

I replaced GOT session 8 with another 4K disc set, plays flawlessly on my 700m.

speaking of dealers, Yamaha had their A4A new going for 1049.00 on Amazon a while back. Now it's 1399. I'd pay that over any hot running Denon :D any day.

Isn't Denon just a knock off of Onkyo anyways. :D

Yeah, I've had this "disc rot" problem in the past also. One of those "oh the bad luck" scenarios. :D

Now even if you got the A4 again, which you previously owned :D (and can't believe you sold it), what's gonna stop you from wanting the A6 or A8? :D

Because I remember when you did own the A4, you were asking me about the A6 and A8! :D

And you're still eyeing my Yamaha RX-A3080! :D

Lol, I F..kup selling my A4A to my Son. Don't get me wrong, my A2A is very solid not one issue but it ain't no A4A. My oldest Son wants to trade me his A1080 for my A2A. I'm still thinking about it. He has the A1050 in his HT setup, the A1080 sets in his bedroom setup. Here's the thing, A2A has VRR which is great for gamer's he is a big time gamer, I'm not. I may do the trade with him. Still though the A1080 isn't A4A.
