XTZ Sound's Cinema Series isn't another "me too" surround system. Among other things, XTZ's Cinema lineup boasts trapezoidal cabinetry for a unique look, not to mention some unconventional driver layouts including a quad-tweeter array. The line consists of two speakers, the M6 LCR and S5 surround speaker, as well as two subwoofers, the SUB 1X12 and the massive SUB 3X12, which as the name suggests features a trio of 12" woofers in a massive vented cabinet.

These speakers are certainly a unique design that appear to offer tons of dynamic range and performance. Just look at that massive 3 driver 12" sub. Do you think these speakers mean business? Whose up for a demo?

The whole line of speakers looks amazing: great prices, high quality parts, real wood veneers. The real standout to me looks like the XTZ 99.36. It is a three way tower with a ribbon tweeter for $800 each! The only thing that gives me pause is that the in home audition isn't quite up there with companies like SVS and Aperion.

I have reviewed two different XTZ products now, have owned an equal number and heard a few others beyond those. They make very nice stuff, especially the speakers. Unfortunately, their US website is rough, which seems to scare away a lot of people. That's a real shame too, because I think if more heard what they sound like XTZ would find their way into a lot of other HT's.

Hello, Fellow Audioholics,

My name is Jason and I am the the main contact at our new XTZ Sound USA office in Torrance CA.

I am working diligently to improve our website to match the quality of our products. It does need a lot of work as Jim pointed out.

We are putting together a competitive "Buy & Try", At-Home Trial for the Cinema series speakers.

If any members are interested in them, please send me a private message for the details of at-home audition program.

We have a limited inventory of Cinema M6 and S5 speakers that I can offer the new program for even before it is posted.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if anyone has comments or questions regarding XTZ.

Kind regards,

Jason Lee

These subs look great for the price (just going off of these few specs mentioned in the preview). Going by the CEA measurements, on databass, the sub with one 12'' driver seems to be right between the Powersound Audio XV 15, and the slightly more expensive SVS PB12+ and the Rythmik FV 15HP, just as it is with price. The nice thing about the XTZ sub is that there is variable tuning, as well. Hopefully Audioholics can get one of these subs in to run through the usual battery of measurements, to confirm that all other important measurements are also in line with a sub at this price point. I am anticipating (hopefully) seeing a review in the future.

If the CEA measurements are correct, it really is a very good value, especially when you consider the footprint for the 3X12. In fact, it would best the impressive RBH G2 SX1212PR and is only half the price. $/SPL, its gives the PB13 Ultra a serious run for its money. I'd love to see these confirmed by Josh. There really isn't any variable tuning in the ordinary sense of the word though. Yes, it supports a sealed mode, but I have always taken variable tuning to mean multiple ported tuning points. In the sense the XTC is variable tuning, any ported sub could be considered likewise, because you can seal any port and alter the performance.

Hi guys,

Unfortunately it looks like there was an error with the CEA2010 figures. The folks at XTZ had adjusted for 1m to 2m, but didn't realize that we specified output in RMS versus peak. As such, the numbers have to be adjusted down by 3dB to correspond with our standard. Sorry for the confusion.

So does that mean XTZ would pay shipping both ways if someone wasn't satisfied with the subwoofer? That would be pretty impressive, especially for the 3X12.

Hey Jim,

Yes, XTZ would pay for shipping both ways as long as it is returned in "like new" condition with all accessories in original packaging.
