HEY! Geologist here....that's seriously what diamond is though. In a quick, very brief explanation. Diamond and Graphite have the same chemical composition, just different structures. Diamond is "basically" what happens when graphite is under intense heat & pressure.

*goes to fridge for beer #5 "or so"* lol
I was waiting for you to elaborate. :D

So graphite is kind of like a diamond precursor. Cool.

Then, what is a ceramic graphite? Is it also a precursor to a diamond?

wallah? Since when is that a word?
Since about the 14th century lol

In the sense that I used it in...not really a word, but it would actually work if I wanted to play smart(er than I actually am! :D)

Toppelled MTM center for 2 grand USD? Who are they kidding?

Expensive drivers (especially ones without much performance advantage, but big fetish-quotient, like Accutons) are pointless when used in fatally-flawed configurations.

Is Ceramic more fragile than Beryllium and Diamond?

I think Randy B bought the TAD S-4EX and blew the Ceramic tweeter. I think.

I also heard a few people blew their Diamond tweeters (B&W).
Randy blew the bass driver, I believe.

But that's a great sounding speaker. Even better with two bass drivers. :)

I'm sure there are a lot of materials that qualify as ceramic. Blowing a tweeter may have nothing to do with its diaphragm material. But blowing a midrange like the accutons, well you might even shatter it like a plate

I really want to hear a Transducer Lab tweeter:

Transducer Lab precision loudspeaker engineering

They have all sorts of piston dome materials. :D

Correct, I blew the bass driver. Now fixed.
Are the TAD S-4EX any more special than the other bookshelf speakers you've own?

Would you spend the $2K+ again buying them?
