Was related to the story...basically leaving themselves open for a next movie.

I thought it was pretty good, but not quite as interesting as the others.

I went to see X-men III over the weekend.
The movie was GREAT. Enough LFE to even make the Sheep happy :)

If you have watched the other movies in the series you'll love this one. I think it was the best of the three.

If you are a lover of the comic books or cartoon series, you're not going to like how the story is different. The story was rushed along and a lot of things skipped.

I thouught it was the worst of the three. The new director really showed his lack of skill with a story. Lots of cool action yes, but far too much stuff that didn't really serve a purpose or support the story.

It almost isn't fair to compare the movies to the comics. The story has never followed the comics, or really had much of anything to do with them for that matter. All they really did is lift the concept and characters. Many of the relationships of the characters are wrong and nearly all of the characters are out of place relative to each other time wise. What happened to Nightcrawler? Where was Apocalypse? How come Beast didn't know the rest of his teammates? He's an ORIGINAL X-man... Angel was also an original X-man...

Entertaining popcorn movie? Yes. True to the series? Not by a long, long way.

Well, your first post and this post are much different.

I saw it, but not in a good theater. I will give my opinion this weekend when I have time.

Who, me?

You'll like the end fight in a good theater. Serious boom factor.

I think that might have been for me. I was not overwhelmed by the movie. It was fun, and those who liked the others will probably like this one, but I just felt it moved further away from the comic story than either of the first two and there was very little in the way of character development. I went in with low expectations and wasn't disappointed, but I wasn't impressed either. The thing that surprised me was how well it did in the box office.

I thought this one sucked compared to the first two movies. Holes in the story and it really just didn't flow well. I was really dissapointed, but how often can a movie be a trilogy and the third one be just as good or better than the previous ones . . . oh well, maybe I'll go see it again and it'll change my mind

Gotta side with Garcia on this one. X3 is the Return of the Jedi of the series. The story change the dynamics of the characters that was set up in X2. Magneto is seems to be just a thug in this rather than man of conscience from the mutant perspective.

Some of the effects were outstanding, definitely a popcorn film. It'll make the collection by virtue of being X3. X2 is the best in the series.

Can you expand on this briefly? I am not into the comics but certainly know about the Xmen, and now have seen all three.:D

Basically there were a series of events going on that lead up to the "last stand" and the war, and Magneto was not the catalyst of the "evil" mutant's movement. The story from the comics was relatively complicated and included another antagonist (group) as well as other protagonist teams which would have been way too much to squeeze into the movie, so I can see why they simplified it. The story that was presented however, was relatively weak and definitely flawed. I think it is more that it changed the basic feel of the characters that bugged me.

Was it entertaining? Yes. Did it fit with the others? Not in my mind.

Great. Thanks very much for the background:D

Same with the Bourne trilogy. The movies are not even close to the books as to the story lines and events.

Is there life after Xavier's death in the comic series? Who takes his position?

this isn't the same as the movie but, once upon a time, when xavier was not around ... magneto led the x-men in behalf of xavier. (so he's not really a bad guy in the comic books)

and those deaths in the movie didn't happen in the comic books.

What do ya think about a Wolverine movie?
I'd watch it. but I would like the storyline to match the comic books.
something like: he was captured and fitted with adamantium, used as "Weapon X" an assassin or merc to do "things" along with sabretooth.
(both their fast healing powers proving to be useful in tactical missions)

in one of those missions (cold war time) they somehow encounter a character named Omega Red which in the present time proves to be one of wolverine's more interesting nemesis.

Not sure you know what I meant there.;) Maybe you did?

Not my life but in the comic series. I don't read them so I have no idea what happened after the 'final battle.' Final battles are usually the end, no?

So, they altered it a bunch as they did with Bourne movies.
