I currently have a Panny AE 2000U mated to a Panny BD-80 blu-ray player, Onkyo 876 AV receiver, B&W CDM NT series 5.1 speakers and 100-inch screen.
The blu-ray dvds I play range from the bombastic (Avatar, Gladiator, Transformers, Iron Man, James Bond Casino Royale types) to dramas and romcoms (Jane Austen Pride & Prejudice, Twilight series. etc.) and classical (live concerts for operatic voices or piano and orchestra; operas; ballets).
Would it be worthwhile for me to upgrade to a Panny AE 4000U?
I am really not into 3D -- specially since I view classical concerts a lot -- and I feel that if upcoming projectors are in 3D, they will be more expensive and they will also be "first generation" which I do not really go for. I wait for the product to mature more.
I am also concerned that when the 5000U comes out, it might have 3D and will then be more expensive but also still be a "first generation" model. With the 4000U selling so well here in the Philippines, I do not know if I can still get this unit once the 5000U comes out and it turns out that I still prefer the 4000U.
My 2000U has been performing so well and so reliably for the 2 and 1/2 years that I have used it (1400+ hours) -- I just hope that the newer models are of equally good quality.
Thank you for your help!
