The times will always change. Prices will always increase due to various reasons. Software and hardware will change.
But some things remain the same. The audio hobby has always been a niche market, whether it’s 1950 or 2050. And even within the audio hobby, about 90% only use AVR, and only about 10% use separates like AVP and Stereo Preamps and Amps.
When the economy is slow, companies tend to release fewer models. For example, for many years Yamaha didn’t even have an AVP/Amp. Then they released their CX-A and MX-A AVP and Amp. Then now they stopped. But when the economy picks up, Yamaha will likely release new AVP/Amp and AVR models.
