Why am I compelled to buy more gear?

I'd go with it being a disease. Unfortunately I am one of the ones stuck on the outisde looking in (no funds). Been stuck with two homes for over a year now, thought we had one sold about 6 months back so started looking at speakers, amps, room treatments, then the sale fell through. Now it's to the point of even if we do sell the house, I'll no longer have the funds to 'celebrate'. Yet everyday I spend 2-4 hours perusing forums, looking for reviews, and checking prices on equipment I'd like to buy. I can't stop looking...

Anyway, I'd suggest setting up a home theater pc or network server. Depending on what you have already it could be inexpensive (assuming you don't already have one, didn't see one mentioned). Right now I am just using my regular pc on the 56" tv. Have most of my cd's ripped to FLAC, movies ripped to an external hard drive, and pretty much do everything on it from internet, listening to music, watching movies, and playing games. And if you build it yourself, it could take months putting in the research for what you want it to do. Just another idea.

I put my 50" plasma in my bedroom, it is awesome. I am going to add some speakers before long.
Have you looked at Paradigm? I hear the Cinema Series are perfect for a bedroom setup.:D

Soundman,

Do you have a pic of the rack? How are we supposed to make suggestions on how to fill it if we don't know what it looks like?

I dont like Paradigm;)

She will make me go with inceilings for the bedroom. I will go with Sonance or Speakercraft and use my Yammy 659 and put the 1800 in my main room.

After I hooked up my equipment last night, and I was fiddling around, my son says... "isn't that Plasma kinda small for in here", referring to my 42" I just hung on the wall.

I'm glad I bought the bracket that will support a 50", and I can just swap it out... :) which was my plan for down the line...

You guys must be either:

1. single
2. rich

I'm neither so I can't play this crazy game no matter the temptation. :(
Oh - you can play alright. It just takes some sacrifice, and if you're in a situation like me a LOT of 'splainin' with the wife as she watches in horror as UPS delivers to our door, box after box after box....after box....after box...;)

My wife is pretty good about all this AV stuff. I showed her the photo of the Salk speakers in the guitar burst maple finish...she didn't say no.

My Onkyo CD player has the same Wolfson DAC as the Cambridge 540C, and comparable specs. My integrated is a classic Carver that would be tough to beat except by separates. In spite of this, I am seriously considering the Cambridge 340C/340A combo. Why? Because they look really nice (especially together.)
Sheer insanity!

i've discovered this drive to purchase more things. Why is this? I continue to........... I plan on getting an SVS sub........ I'm compelled to look for something to fill up my rack, just because I think it will look awesome! I know this line of thinking is not rational and may be quite silly to some. Has this obcession gone out of control? Any suggestions or reccomendations on what the next step should be?

It has a name, and you have = G.A.S. (Gear Acquiring Syndrome) There is no known cure at this point.

Myself = I a require another guitar amplifier.
(In my best Mrs. Crabtree voice) “What wrong with the 3 amps you have now!?!”

“Well dear…..”

Stay tuned

Free Tip = Have it shipped to work, this way you can bring "it" home in stages:)
