Which sub to choose of 4 great possiblities

I have been researching the speaker and sub forum for some time now and came up with 4 subs that should get the job done. Looks like I'll need two because the room is 21'wx45'lx11'h. The subs will be most likely paired to Aperion's new Verus towers/center/bookshelfs ($2196 for the 5 speakers) making a 5.2 system. If anyonehas heard the Verus' please chime in. Word has it they are coming out with a di/bi-pole in the Verus line in the not to distant future, interesting...

Here are the sub candidates:

Rythmic FV15HP $1200
Elemental Design A5-350 $715 each if 2 purchased
Hsu VTF-15H $879
SVS PB12-Plus DSP $1249

Would like to keep the total speaker budget around $4,000 so a few of these may push the budget if a pair are purchased. Any opinions more than welcome.

Thanks,
Joseph

Forgot to mention the intended use of the system. 70% tv/movies 30% music (from classical to hard rock). A sub capable of a good musical response not just HT explosive bass seems to be what I'm looking for in a sub/subs. Really new to high end speakers so having a bit of a steep learning curve trying to sift through all the techincal details.

Thanks again,
Joseph

That room is over 10K cubic feet, assuming it's not open to any other rooms/hallways/etc; 2 subs should be a minimum, or have them nearfield.

If you can wait another 4-6 weeks, Audioholics should have reviews of the VTF-15H and FV15HP; the PB12-Plus review went up tonight (which is actually $200 more than you listed.) They're also reviewing the Aperion speakers you're asking about, so maybe you should sit tight on your wallet for the moment and see what they have to say.

What about bookshelf speakers up front? Since your weighted more towards TV/movies than music in a huge room, I'd spend more of my budget on the subs - I don't see what having towers up front will do for you...

I'm hoping that going with the towers will enhance/maximize the music use of the system. As for waiting on reviews, that's a tough one... Was hoping to get the system ordered up in a week or so but it would be nice to read what the experts have to say about the speakers/subs I've narrowed down.

The only thing tougher than waiting is not waiting and wishing you had!:D

I would really go with a pair of VTF-15Hs. You will want to move as much air as possible in that room, or else you will have vast bass nulls to contend with. No single in your list will do the job, and, if Hsu's claimed performance measurements are anywhere near accurate, the VTF-15H is easily the best bang for the buck. Two will cost you a hair over 2k.
