Which Home Theater Magazine?

I was a subscriber to Electronic House which is really about integrating electronics in the home, and therefore, has a lot of information about home theaters. The info, however, is NOT technical and the products within the magazine are purely driven by marketing dollars and not objective reviews. It was fun to read about other people's $250,000 theaters, whole house audio, etc for a while but it got old.

I don't regret getting their subscription, I've just moved on.

As I already explained, it undermines their credibility.
If the product that is being advertised is pertinent to what the rag is about; how can the owners/editors say "no"? Is that even legal?

I don't know if you guys remember a couple of years ago when Zondervan's Christian Books was trying to advertise in Rolling Stone and initially Rolling Stone told them they could not. My brother-in-law (Brian Bekins) was the lead for the Ad Agency (Grand Rapids, MI) that represented Zondervan's and it was his account and he's the one that pushed Rolling Stone to reconsider. It was a huge big deal in the magazine advertising world because it set a precedent that magazines couldn't prejudice against certain companies if they were advertising anything within the scope of the magazine (which is just about every single topic you could think of for Rolling Stone).

Which brings me to my point, even if these mags didn't want those kinds of advertisers I imagine their hands are somewhat tied. Plus, the money in the mag industry is in advertising and not magazine sales. Would you turn down $10-15,000 just to appease a bunch whiners on some website?
