Which Amp? Pioneer 1019, VSX-82TXS , or VSX-01TXH?

You kinda missed my point....and only a very few would turn down extra headroom IMO.

Sounded like your point was to disrespect some perfectly capable receivers. But maybe I'm wrong. Price being equal, extra headroom (that won't be used) isn't important to a person who wants features offered by an AVR with a less powerful amp. However, I still agree the 1019 doesn't seem like a wise option for the price.

You mentioned vinyl. None of these have phono iputs. An inexpensive phono pre-amp will solve the issue.

That's funny. I have the 82 (bought it about two years ago from a dealer getting rid of his floor model). If it doesn't have a Phono stage, I'm wondering what the heck it is I have my turntable plugged into (and grounding wire strapped to) and why it plays my turntable when I dial in what it says is the Phono on the input selector knob.

Hmmmmm, what else could phono mean?

My only beef with my 82 is that it's HDMI 1.2 and so not capable of getting the most out of Blu Ray, video-wise (I'm presuming I could still use the analog audio outs, but I'm not excited about all those cables).

Does anyone know of a tweak that would improve my HDMI from 1.2 to 1.3?

I am using 82TXS with Oppo BDP-83. What capabilities are you missing video wise?

Oppo is doing all the audio decoding.Pioneer can do DSD decoding for SACDs & accepts PCM input for all the HD Audio goodies ( TrueHD, DTS MA etc).
HDMI 1.3 can provide deep color, however there is no content (aka blu-ray movies) with deep color
